I have just purchased a 2016 honda jazz, VTi model (in Australia) I am unable to get my iphone to pair correctly with the car system. It will connect but contacts will not transfer over and when the car is turned off and on again, i need to pair it all over again...it doesn’t automatically connect. Using an iphone 6 with ios 11.4

I took it to a Honda dealer today and they have said that nothing can be done , that the car has old technology in it and i’d need an iphone 4 to make it work!! This surely can’t be correct. Are other people having this difficulty? Is there a firmware update or something that we can get, or should we take it to another dealer?
