Does anyone know what might be causing these drip leak marks to appear on my drivers side front tire? Started happening about a year ago. Thought it could be a leaking break line, but I asked the service folks about it and they said it could be water from the AC. But it appears overnight after I've driven the car without the AC on at all. Photo attached.
It does look like the liquid is coming from inside the tire. Moisture from the air pumps at the gas stations? But, then the tire is sealed to the wheel so I doubt water is seeping out from there. It took you about a year to be concerned?
This is clearly the expensive Nitrogen they filled your tires with seeping out and reacting with oxygen in the air creating water as a result.
You should go back and give them heck for selling you Nitrogen that can"t stay where it belongs.
If you lick it and it tastes slightly acidic, it's Nitrogen for sure.
Post #2 nails it. A neighborhood dog has claimed your Fit as his territory.
The fix is rather easy. Carefully wash off all traces of the offending liquid. Then standing in front of the tire pull down your zipper and, uh, mark the tire as yours again. The chances are that the dog won't accept this the first time around and you may have to repeat this several times. You might want to check around your yard to see if there are any other objects like trees which the dog is trying to steal from you and follow the reclaiming process to correct the situation. To avoid awkwardness with the neighbors make sure that when you do this that there is nobody else about, and no neighborhood security cams (think of YouTube!) pointed in your direction.
Or better yet, fill a container in the comfort of your washroom , transfer the contents to a spray bottle, apply as needed to affected area(s) and keep in the fridge between applications to preserve freshness.
Make sure to clearly mark the spray bottle with a permanent pen (sharpie will work) to prevent unintended use.
