Sony XM-S400D Power

Hi Guys,

So, I decided to upgrade my 2016 GK's head unit (Pioneer Z5050) and speakers (Infinity Reference 6530 - front / 6532 - rear). While I think it's OK to run it solely using the HU's power output, along the way I plan to throw in a small amp (Sony XM-S400D).

My goal is to make it as clean and as OEM look as possible so I plan to tuck this in under the dash and as per Crutchfield, I may be able to wire this directly from the radio power harness, but just to be (more) safe, I should be able to just use fuse tap on this to at least 15A non critical (existing or vacant) fuse slot in the fuse box under my dash right? So I won't have to wire it directly going to the battery.

Also already took care of the harnesses needed to make it as plug n play (and as OEM) as possible.

Appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks!

For any type of amplifier, it is much safer to wire to the battery for power and fuse it properly.

For an amp I always run a dedicated power wire (with fuse) to the battery.

Thanks guys for all your responses.

I saw a video on Youtube form Dabinche and he wired his under the dash fuse box but directly to the battery line input (don't know how to describe it) and not from the fuse slots.

However, my Jazz did not have the same style of fuse box as his as mine is covered (the battery line input) so not sure if I can access it without breaking the plastic covering.

For a dash cam, that would be ok. Don't wire your audio system that way.
