So I have a 2018 EX and I bricked the head unit. I was able to find an identical head unit with a busted screen for $85. I took the screen off of my bricked stereo and put it on the replacement head unit and installed it in my car. The adapters are identical because it’s the same factory unit. I was told there would need to be some programming by Honda in order to get it fully functional. I turned on my car the touchscreen is blank, but the red power button is flashing. Is this normal when you exchange head units? Is this part of the “reprogramming” issue that I was told about or is something new? Does anybody know? My second question is does anybody know how much Honda charges to program a head unit? And believe me, I’ve learned my lesson when it comes to fooling around with head units.
When I replaced my battery I didn't have the code. Because it bought the car used and it didn't have the card with the code on it. So I had to use this link. I had to pull the radio and get the serial number off it and enter the Vin. But it gave me the security code. https://mygarage.honda.com/s/radio-nav-code?brand=Honda
