Question 2015 Fit EX with an HTC One M8

I just purchased my new Fit. I have paired my phone with the car and it works for making and receiving calls but I can't get it to read texts to me unless I am already listening to audio from my phone. It will not interrupt the radio when I receive a text. I am currently using Google Hangouts as my texting app but I am willing to change that if I can get it to work with the car.

Is there anyone with this specific combination who was able to get this to work?

Have you followed the instructions in the owners manual for setting up and turning on the text messaging function?

Yeah, what Fitmo said, there's a question in the Settings option asking if you want texts read to you. IIRC, it defaults to "No", so you'll need to turn that on.

I have the settings turn on for reading text to me. I realized that I have not received a plain text message while in the car yet. I was receiving Google Hangouts messages. It is possible it will only work with text messages. I will have to test that the next time I am in the car.
