How does Sirius radio sound through the LX aux port?

Hi.

I'm really close to buying a Honda Fit LX. I have a Sirius radio unit that I plan to,run through the AUX port.

If you've done this can you tell me how the sound quality was? It was great in my cooper, before it was totaled.

Someone on one of the posts said it wasn't very loud. Unfortunatly there's no way to test that before purchasing.

Any other issues with a Sirius radio through the AUX port?

Thanks.

Bump.

Any body use the AUX port for Sirius radio?

If so, how well did it work?

Thanks!

I'm using a portable XM radio in my EX, using an FM transmitter since the EX lacks the aux port.

Assuming you have a portable unit as well, why not take your gear to the dealer and ask to try it out? You could just lay the antenna on the dash. My dealer let me install two baby seats in a random Fit before we even got serious about purchasing.

Thanks Splat.

I'm going to try that on Saturday. Hopefully they'll let me try it.

From what I understand the FM transmitter doesn't work great in Los Angeles since there are so many lousy radio stations.

I use my AUX jack with my top line SiriusXM ONYX PLUS. Sounds good. Dont use FM modulated if possible. Sat radio is only near CD quality (96kbps) and every channel is EQ'd by them so its best to use the best connection possible. Even upgraded drivers if looking for speakers too in the future. Splat, where in NC are you? You can read my city. No one is looking for me....lol.

Youre using an unused station bro. The distance from radio to the XM unit.

Thanks Des.

I'm hoping the level of output for the 2016 radio will be the same as your 2013.

It should. If not, my unit has volume to match the volume of the other settings on CD, radio, and Bluetooth. Which radio did you purchase? Onyx, Onyx Plus, etc...?

Try Radio-Locator.com

Search by zip code for open frequencies.

If it does work I'd be happy to upgrade to the onyx plus model.

Oh you won't get all the new channels. The Onyx plus also like other newer radios can pause for up to an hour. Think of it like pausing the TV then hitting play after you're done with whatever made yo pause in the first place. It will also show you current sports scores of your favorite team or the whole NFL, NBA, etc. The Onyx plus is the only radio that shows album/channel art. I'll post pix of my unit and where it is on my dash. It's out of reach when driving so I bought the optional wireless remote control.

Cheers,
Desmond

Thanks desmond.

Before I bought my fit today we hooked up my Sirius unit to the aux port on the LX. It sounded good. That was the last step before buying the car. Maybe I'll switch to the onyx in a few months because it looks cool. I'll post a pic when I get it hooked up in a few days.

Does it say what model on your current one? The newest radio almost have over 200 channels but those may not matter. Every sports game has a channel on newer radios and Spanish channels.

Starmate 5. It's a good size. I wish the power adapter was a little smaller.

It's not the same cigarette lighter plug? I had mine hardwired so I could use the plug to charge my and passengers phones. As for the radio, XM sells Starmate 8.

I use an ollld ass sportster 5 from like '05-'06. The music channels sound great, some talk channels kinda sound like AM radio (sirius bandwidth). I use the aux jack.
