Evilchargerfan's GK5 - Ballin On A Budget, Minus The Ballin Part (poor mans build!)
08/08/2018:
The car is starting to come along real nicely (imo) as far as aesthetics goes. Car is running mighty smooth with the ktuner, and electronic throttle controller. With just a few more bolt on's, the car should be ready for a custom tune/etune.
A few more touches, and then the car will undergo its final external mod ...a color change. The interior is still screaming for leather ...
06/28/2018:
When I first created this thread back in April, I was unclear of the direction this car build will be going in. With some GK5 knowledge under my belt, I now have a better understanding for these cars and have some things planned for it. One constant will remain, this build will stay budget friendly, and semi-practical
Hi Everyone! My name is Dennis and I'm from San Diego. I recently picked up an 2015 Fit LX (6 spd) with 23k on the odometer
For the most part, this will be a simple and reliable DD. The inner Ricer in me runs strong, so mods will come slowly but surely. I'll do my best to update this thread as often as I can
How she sits as of 04-24-2018: Just lowered 1.5 inch thanks to D2 Racing, lowering springs

Installing the springs was a breeze. the rears took roughly 15 mins from unbolting the stock springs, to installing the d2's and bolting everything back in
1 simple bolt on each side and the springs almost drop out on their own. with a help of a pry bar, took less than a minute each side to pull out the rear springs
reverse the order when installing the new spring. note ... the d2 spring itself is smaller, so no need for any pry bars or any sort, just slap her right in! TIME!
(we were shooting for 15 mins, ah well, missed it by 1 min)

The fronts were rather simple too. Only 1 bolt on the top, I'm used to seeing 3 up there. No complaints here, less bolts means less work!
for those who do not have a spring compressor ... we were able to pull off the disassemble of the passenger just fine w/o the need for spring compressors. sketchy .... but .... it came out just fine!
in a few weeks, will come back in this area to install camber bolts and a front sway bar. as a huge bonus, camber bolts from my old wrx just so happen to fit on this car ... yay!

Your ride looks nice. And thanks for the pics on the installation. About those Philips bulbs. I hope that you plan on getting a few more sets, bc the ones that I had would eventually burn out.
And thank you all for the kind words so far, even though my car is "meh" you guys find a way to make it seem special/less meh. Today's post will be sharing my fun weekend playing with bulbs!
oem bulbs, about 1136 lux
(disclaimer, lux meter held down with my own human hands. there is def room for error)
I'll be comparing Philips X-tremeVsion (+130%) and Philips RacingVision (+150%)
(I'm in no way paid to do this.... I simply have no life and like to test stuff out and compare things with no reason. But .... if someone out there wants to pay me to review stuff, I'm game.... hmu)
1453 lux for the x-treme visions (+130%)
1665 lux for the racing visions (+150%)

and here are some shots of the bulbs installed. pics are shot from the front of the car, above the roof line, and then from inside the cabin
x-treme vision (+130%)
racing vision (+150%)
conclusion .... I honestly cant tell teh diff. other than, the racing visions do slightly look a little more white/blue (closer to 4000k as far as looks go)
as far as light output, the lux meter does suggest the racing visions output more light. but my human eyes, cant tell the diff. it was a darn fun experiment tho! I hope you guys enjoyed this as much as I did

Thanks LegenD. I'm gonna give koni orange's a try soon, wondering what the fuss is all about. I'm one of those people who likes to buy and try stuff. With some lucky, maybe it will lower the car just a TAD bit more.... lol.
Recent mod, Sumole Ram Air Duct Scoop Thingee:
Butt Dyno says, there is a little more power gained, even if its just a small amount. MPG appears to be worse.... but.... I'll follow up with that with Fuelly data after a few more tanks of gas

It seems like a popular mod for sure. They're better quality over the stock setup so you can't go wrong. Unless I'm not up to date, I don't think there are any GK specific, so people just use the ones from the older gen. Fits?

I was late to the party, but I did recently discover that Ge8 suspension stuff (like springs and struts) do fit on a GK5. So that said, I ordered Koni Orange's for a 2nd gen, and happily it was cheaper. Funny how, some years have cheaper parts than other years. Like my Trunk Cargo Cover, for some reason the PN for the 2018's are cheaper than the PN for the 2015-2017 .... go figure
