Pioneer mvh-1400nex Reverse camera help

Edit: was able to tap into fuse, now I’m having trouble making the camera pop up on and off automatically, anybody have experience with pioneer HU and camera??

Original post:
So I’ve installed pioneer mvh-1400nex with pioneer reverse camera along with a bypass. Everything is installed and hooked up working good.. I tapped the reverse lights to power on the reverse camera.. it powers on when in reverse but when I put the gear out of reverse, the screen just stays black with a “objects appear mirrored” thing left behind. I then have to manually press the “x” to close the black screen. I noticed the pioneer harness had a reverse wire (purple?) that I just left hanging since I tapped into the reverse light... I hope this all makes sense... please help! Thanks.. any solutions to making this black screen automatically disappear?

So the reverse lights are powering the camera and not a fuse box location from the battery?

Sounds like that purple wire is the trigger wire for the camera that is suppose to go the reverse lights. Do have a product link with an online manual?

This is what the manual says
yea reverse lights power camera.. didn’t go into fuse box.

when I go into “av” mode i can actually press camera button and the rear cam video shows up but then it doesn’t turn off automatically, just shows up when I hit reverse. Does this mean I need to pull the purple wire all the way to the tail light? Or maybe tap into the fuse box for reverse light?

Anybody have info and or pics on this fuse box reverse light?

Yellow - Constant 12V source
Red - Switched 12V from ignition
Violet/White - Goes back to reverse light wire

The Violet wire should be triggered by the reverse light. I'm sure there is a place in the front of the car or on it's way to the back that you could find it and not have to run the Violet wire to the trunk.

You could use an Add-A-Fuse on the backup lights fuse spot (it'll say "backup light" on your fuse diagram).

On the GE, the backup light fuse is position 5.

Hmmm ok I tapped into the fuse and it comes on when I turn on the car but after I start driving it doesn’t automatically turn on or off. Also doesn’t automatically close on its own (camera view window)

anybody have pioneer unit unit with these “issues”?

Ok I figured it out myself... the add-a-fuse is not good for trigger wire, just as a constant 12v. So I wasn’t getting a trigger. Tapped into reverse lights along with the camera and trigger. Thanks for all who helped.
