My Two Biggest Disappointments With '09 Fit Sport

not huge "dealbreakers" but more unpleasant surprises:

1) the lack of a cargo shelf in the hatch is pretty lame; in this day and age being able to see what's in a hatch is an invitation to theft. yeah I negotiated it for the dealer to throw it in (still haven't received/installed it yet) but it is a glaring oversight IMHO

2) the iPod connectivity is a great idea but the implementation is faulty for anything other than perhaps 4GB, i.e. no search by Genre then Artist then Album, which is the best way to "navigate" through my 120GB iPod.

Other than the above, the car has been great so far (5 days I've owned it! :-)

My tint solved #1. I have no problem with #2 as I am the only one here with no iPod.

Solutions

Problem 1) I would suggest tint like Black3sr. Not only does it help reduce the hatch, but also blocks out almost 100% of the UV rays.

Problem 2) You could set up a playlist through iTunes, shuffle, or play one album from a band.

1. Get the cargo cover add-on. Easy DIY install and easy to get in and out if needed. (which you did)

2. No Ipod here. I used a USB flash drive. I kept the music in directories of how I wanted them organized. When I scroll through with the controls, it uses the directory names - pretty cool.

The biggest disappointment I have with the Fit is that it doesn't come with stability control, paddle shifters or the GPS navigation head unit here in Canada. I'll hold off my purchase untill these features are made available, especially the stability control. It is so important to have this safety feature during the winter months and Consumer Reports highly recommend the feature.

How do other fit sport owners carry a bicycle in or on the car? I am disappointed that there does not seem to be a bike rack that will fit the fit. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Marcy

I would agree with the cargo cover complaint, especially for people who live in the city. The cargo cover will be one of my first purchases after my car comes in. I haven't experienced the iPod issue yet but we'll see, I'll just be glad to be able to use the iPod in the car finally. My biggest complaint is that the VSA only comes on model with navigation and the navigation only comes as an automatic. I don't care about the nav but it would be nice to have the VSA and I want the 5-speed.

I recommend the cargo cover. Of all the dealer extras I purchased it is the best. I was disappointed at first that the new Fits did not come with a retractable "cover" but in operation I have been very pleasently suprised by the hard cargo cover.

It provides visual security, makes a nice behind the seats trunk area and the snaps automatically undo if you wish to lower your seats flat. If that doesn't provide enough space...to slide an object below the shelf..then the whole thing removes very easily and reinstalls very easily.

I had doubts when I purchased, but now would support it 100%. It's even tough enough that if you want to put lighter objects ontop it can hold them. It hinders view and I wouldn't put a lot of weight BUT it is possible.

PS.
My biggest disappointment with the new 2010 Fits as opposed to the older model is the absence of the fold the seats flat back "Refresh" mode. I don't know how often I would use that configuration but was disappointed when I found out new Fits could no longer really be configured in that manner.

I was pissed to find out the $14k new Fiesta has a cargo cover as standard, WTH The Mini even comes with it as standard, why cut corners here Honda? Also the Fiesta has t/c standard, again, why Honda? To tie this option in with NAV is stupid IMO.

That said, I love my FIT
