already introduced myself in first generation, but here's photo

Hi all,
I didn't see this thread when I first registered here, but I've already introduced myself https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/1st-...ce-manual.html, but wanted to add a first week ownership Fit photo of the main reason we bought our Ruby, as I call this nice looking automobile. It is very roomy with the rear seats down and our older German Shepherd can easily climb inside so we can all go on road trips together when we visit the in-laws.

I've been driving our manual tran. Fit for over two weeks now and the first thing I had to get used to was the tinted rear window. When I would look through the rear-view mirror to check for obstacles, I almost could not see anything through it for it was so dark. I have since gotten used to it, but find myself using the side mirrors more, which is probably best, and I always turn round to look over shoulders, etc. Not complaining of the tinted windows as it is something new for us, and it will come in handy to keep the interior cooler as we live where it gets very hot in the summer.

The other thing I had to get used to was the shock I would receive after driving a bit. Whenever my hand glances against the side window or the outside handle, I get a shock. I guess it's the tires picking up static as it only happens after driving the car.

I also find myself driving with the visor down as I am not used to the deep slanted windshield, but the visor does what it is supposed to do.

The first day I drove it to town, I found myself starting in third gear a couple of times. Oops. Stalled it. Felt like a teenager again. But now I am used to the shifter and enjoy driving this car, and boy, does it want to go! It is so quiet when idling. Very comfortable seats and just wanted to chime in and say, it's a great car. Silly me, but one of the first things I liked about it when I test drove it was the instrument panel. The blue and red and white is very easy to see without being distracting. I also like the signal sound. Our other cars are pretty old, so all of this power stuff is new to me. My husband's Ford Ranger has some bells and whistles, but he bought it new and got the basic model with no frills.
I've since put some splash guards on her that I bought from JC Whitney, though they weren't the best fitting guards, even though they were stated as being custom-fitting. I've also put durable seat covers on the two front seats, and stitched piping round the openings I cut for the side air bags so they aren't impeded. I also installed a pair of OEM fog light assemblies I got on ebay this week. The right fog light had a cracked lens and I had some surplus in my pay pal account. I'll keep the originals as the lens can be replaced, if my engineer husband has anything to do with it. He's good at stuff like that.

I went to Wally world to pick up an ordered doggie crate that is 48" in length. The fellow was impressed with the room when the box fit easily in the back.
Anywhere, here's Ruby:
Regards, Safina
P.S. Your eyes are seeing correctly. The carport slab is slanted. That's what happens when a preacher (previous homeowner) tries to build something.
