Dang....
Dang....
Since yesterday, each of the FIRST times i take off from stop after getting in the car, i would hear a loud clank.
I was worried that some part of my Fit was loose or something. But after a while, i would forget about it.
After a few deliveries, i did a quick inspecting/fidgeting and turns out it my passenger door... To be exact, the door lock actuator. I would hear it the first time i take off from stop, because thats when it auto-locks. Interestingly enough, one of my Mirage's door locks were starting to fail too before i left the car in San Diego and moved to Chicago (I added those as "aftermarket").
I wonder if its because of my constantly getting in and out to do deliveries.
Time to buy some parts... Hum, would now be a good time to buy new aftermarket speakers to go with my Kenwood nav HU?
Update: shortly after posting, the noise has evolved from a simply loud clank... To a loud grind.

not that I expect anyone to care...
considering there wasn't a single reply. But I did create this thread, and it's only proper etiquette that I respond with the conclusion.
Got the replacement actuator from Bernardi parts.
Popped open door panel (broke a tiny piece of one of the red clips, not sure it'll matter, it's so small)
Replaced the actuator and closed up.... no more grinding.
Even though I bought new speakers, I didn't install them. I bought two sets of JL Audio C3-600s. I need to run new speaker wires for them... but I don't have any. So the install will have to wait until I get some.

etiquette requires me to say, "Good job!"
At least one of mine makes a whimpering noise, but it's done this since new when there's a chill in the air.
I've thought about deactivating the auto lock feature to save wear on the actuators. But it saves my wife having to lock us in (that drives me nuts).
Good to know the diy isn't formidable.

).On occasion I get a stupid "authorization error" with my ipod (connection just cuts out, until I unplug/re-plug the wire at the ipod). But, at least it doesn't happen as often as it did with the stock stereo (or aftermarket Alpine HU, I installed in a Pathfinder before I got the Fit).
Thanks. Still think it's worth buying or would I be better off buying one lf their newest models? Those things are pricey so if I can find one like yours used for cheaper, I may do something like that.
I think maybe try the DNX890HD, looks to be a more current version ("latest" listed at KenwoodUSA). It's $1199.99 at Crutchfield, but they're offering a $100 mail-in/web rebate, so that drops to $1099.99. Amazon has it listed at $999 from some 3rd party seller.
I bought the 9980 for $1219 from some other 3rd party seller on Amazon (listed at $1399 at Crutchfield at the time)... but honestly, if I had to do it again... I'd suffer the extra price from Crutchfield. Between the worry about getting cheated and the messed up packaging, I don't want to do that again. I did buy the Alpine from Crutchfield, just thought I could "try" to save money this time.

I love buying stuff from Amazon, but hate getting things from 3rd party sellers... never worry-free.
In this case, the newer 890 is only $100 difference in price... and Crutchfield does throw in a few tidbits that help a little. So, it's worth it... unless you're really determined to not shell out as much cash. In that case, all I can say is... good luck.
Hum...

Another way to save a few $$ through crutchfield (Besides the added harness, dash fit kit, etc... that they throw in for free) is with referrals. I have a referral code I could throw out for anyone who wants (usually $20 off of $200 purchase for new customers) but since this is Goob's thread, he could do the same (... and etiquette dictates that I let Goobers get first crack at building up some credit at Crutchfield)

I've had good experiences with Crutchfield. It's a real company with people who answer the phone, and that's worth paying for sometimes. A while back I used their bonus points for a batch of blank DVDs and when the first few wouldn't burn right I called and they sent me a new batch without any issues.
Thanks goobs, for anyone who wants to get a few $$ off of their first time purchase at Crutchfield, here's My referral Code.

In most cases it's been $20 off of $200 or more (and a $20 credit for me as well)
