I was doing some general maintenance and figured i would check the dipstick level and noticed a smell of gas from it. I removed the oil filler cap and it smelled like gas as well. Ive looked around but havent found a clear answer yet. Just wondering if anybody has had this problem and what they did to fix it? Ive never experienced this on any cars ive had before.

The past year I havent driven my car very far as i only drive to the train station during the weekdays and it doesnt get to warm up to the temperature it should, I'm wondering if the lack of longer driving could be a factor?

 

Take it for a run to get it warmed up properly then change the oil. Could be some contaminants from all the cold running.
