from the list of people coming there seems to only be like 12 people and if they bring a guest then it would be like 24 people at most. So from the list of foods that people are bringing do any of you think it would be enough? or is there enough? other types of foods that others can bring are maybe fruits or something.

Every Fit that shows up is expected to bring some sort of food, snack, dessert, drinks, something to SHARE. Use your imagination. If you bring what you like and there is food left over, then you get to finish your favorite foods/snacks back home after the meet. At the Mt. Diablo meet, there was plenty of food and we had almost the same number of cars as are on the present list.

MORE DETAILS:

I drove to the park today (1/10) because the two phone numbers for reservations that I found on-line have not been answered for the last 2 days that I have called, and the on-line reservations page would not accept my reservations. No fee was quoted on the reservations page.

It's a good thing that I went there in person, because there is a good news/bad news situation:

The bad news:
to reserve any of the big roofed pavilions (there are 3) that have a 100 person capacity, the reservation fee is $200. in advance. If the fee is paid but we don't show up because of rain, they keep the fee.

Each car still has to pay $6.00 to use the park, even if we pay the $200. fee for the pavilion.

The good news: There are a lot of grills with tables scattered around the park (with no roofs) where we can gather without a reservation or fee. If we are there as a group and a pavilion is unreserved, we can use it without paying the fee. The earlier we get there, the better our chance of being able to use the pavilions and huge BBQ pits for free.

I will be there by 9:30 am to try to stake out the "Gateway Pavilion" which is the first right turn after you enter the park.
If that pavilion turns out to be reserved, just keep driving along the road until you find my BOM Sport. Again, all of this depends on weather. If your TV news predicts rain for sure in the South Bay, stay home.

Worst case will be that we don't have a big BBQ pit and a lot of tables all in one place, and we have to use smaller grills spread out over a larger area. Sorry for this new hitch- when I went there to check it out before Christmas, the park office was closed and there were no rangers to be found. If I had known how much they charged for the facilities, I probably would not have brought this place up.

Great, Vincent. It will be nice to have company, and like I posted, the bigger the group the better for our chances to grab a pavilion.

I didn't realize that you were not in Oakland anymore. Not to put down Oakland, but good move. Well, really, let's go ahead and put down Oakland.

Ill get there rather early aswell, but not 9:30 that a little early because i have to drive lol.

Yes Oakland is a bad place in general. I used to have a band room in oakland and when leaving i was afraid for my life. But you go to the Oakland hills and its rich as all hell. Houses well over a mill and a bunch ferraris and porsches rolling around. Lets hope he was in the hills. If not he's lucky to get out ALIVE lol!

Hey manxman,
Just in case we can't secure a pavilion, I will bring an EZ up canopy. Bring yours, and that will make two. If it's not too windy, these can provide some shelter (just a thought).
BTW, I will bring 3-4 dozen or so buns, depending on the final estimated head count. See you guys Jan 26th if the weather permits. Manxman, I will be waiting for "your call", as to whether or not the January 26th meet is a confirmed "Go!"

Since I live petty close to Los Gatos, I'll show up early too and help "secure" the area.

Hey Michael,
Good idea except for one problem (on my end)- if my canopy gets wet, it will stay that way for months. The mold and moss in BC will ruin it, and my 1-car garage has no room for it. As long as it goes into my shed dry, it stays dry. But the reverse is the problem. Weather forecasts around here are usually pretty accurate whether from satellite TV or The Weather Channel on-line. As long as the prediction is "dry", we'll be OK.

The most important thing about getting one of the pavilions is the huge BBQ pit. Great for cooking a lot of food, but even better for warmth if it is as cold and damp as it usually is around here in January.

You had a good thought about the canopies, but I would suggest that you leave yours at home as well since we don't intend to do this in the rain. If the weather sources really screw up and we get a surprise storm anyway, we can caravan to the nearest pizza parlor.

Just for the sake of insurance, everybody bring an umbrella- like another member posted today, it will fit great under your folded back seats.

FOR EVERYBODY coming from the north: (almost everyone)- head South on Hwy. 880/17. Exit at Lark Avenue & stay in the left lane of the offramp. At the light (Lark), turn left and then get in the right lane. Lark will end in 1/4 mile at Los Gatos Blvd.- turn right. Stay in the right lane. In less than 1 mile you will come to Blossom Hill Rd. which is a lighted intersection. Turn right and stay in the right lane. You will travel back over the freeway- watch the street numbers. You want 333 (the park) and the entrance has a low stone wall and is one lane to get in and three lanes for the exit. Again, turn right as soon as you can after the entrance, and watch on the right side for the "Gateway Pavilion" (maybe 200 yards after your right turn).

Macbuddy- for you, if you take Hwy. 152 West from Los Banos, stay on it to Hwy. 101 North to San Jose, and head West on Hwy. 280 to Hwy. 17, and South to Lark Ave.
