The N.A. Fit's are being imported from Japan.

That’s a shame. We’ve owed a 1990 Civic Si that was sold for scrap with 408,000kms (too rusty), and currently own a 2000 Odyssey EX with 130,000kms. Both are/were extremely reliable and both built in the Canadian plant. I’ve actually had more problems with my Integra built in Japan than either of these two cars. Might be due to driving conditions though.

I’d be more than willing to buy another Honda built in Canada.

I agree with b17gsr. My last 2 Acuras were built in Alliston, no problems at all.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean I don't like Hondas that are built in N.A...I said I was glad to hear that the Fit are built in Japan is because the probability of the JDM parts will fit the car higher!!

Depends if they had to make changes to meet US + Canadian crash standards.

My 99 Civic with 144k miles or 232k km has been built in Ohio. I start to worry if my Honda was made in Mexico. Fit being made in Japan is going to make me "feel" at ease. Not that it is going to matter much in the real world.

I used to buy VW's, The VW build quility has now gone in the dumper since they started making them in Mexico! I now only buy japanese cars usually Toyota, but have recently changed to the new FIT. The build quality on the demo was amazing! I never thought a small car could be built so tight!

Yeah, made in Japan for teh win. My Honda H520 snowblower is made in the USA. It's a great machine, but the fit and finish is not up to the standards of a Japan made Honda.
