hi guys, my first post
from what i heard, only first 50.000 fit will be made in japan and i have feeling that Fit will be selling like hot cake here in canada.
I really want to get Fit ASAP(for japan made fit) but at the same time i dont want to pay full msrp(or even higher) any advise on this?
Im also considering Civic dx-g as well but since its not assembled in Japan (big factor for me) i'll probably go for Fit sport which should bug free unlike new civic. Only thing bothers me about Fit is that auto transmission is not Truely tested. I'd love to get manual but since i have to share with my mom, chance's are very slim for manual
. or maybe i can force my mom to learn manual

Only the first 50,000?!?! So far, the word is that all of the current body style Fits will be made in Japan. The next version will likely be made in North America.
As for cars built in Canada, I've owned a 1990 Civic Si, and now a 2000 Odyssey, both assembled in North America, Both have been EXTREMELY reliable, and haven't had any issues.
As for transmission reliability, I have a feeling that Honda is equipping the North American models with this automatic transmission, because Honda believes that it will last longer.
I'd try getting you mom to drive manual. My dad forced my mother to learn on a Corolla in the late 70s, and since then, that's all she's owned!

I just found out that Fit has very short gear ratio for MT!
Wow that's rather great news for me. the car will feel MUCH stronger than other compact cars. im guessing mid 8 sec 0-60 and low 16' 1/4 mile for MT base fit. I think fit will be able to keep up with new civic and still gets better mpg in the city.i think MT is way to go. it gets better mpg, last forever with good driver, cheaper $$$, FASTER, and more joy to drive
honda is known for their famous engine technology but their MT is another strong point as well.ps. not just honda but all the japanese car that made(assembled) in japan is far superior (in terms of refinement, fit and finish). i belive nissan sentra is assembled in mexico and there was alot of issue with reliability. NA should be another story though, but still i prefer to have HONDA FIT that is made in japan
Yeah, should be interesting to see the NA manual 5 speed Fit acceleration numbers with the the shorter gearing. Likely another reason the fuel economy isn't as high as the other markets. Fine by me!
