Never really been on strike for a couple years???? What does this mean? Is it like saying I havn't had a car accident in a couple years so it's all good? What is their reason anyway? If I hear a good reason then I'll lay off.

That's just what I've seen. U see BC teachers & Telus employees going on strike more often & way longer than the dock employees. Lots of ppl waited for more than 1month for their Fit/Si.

Fight for a raise? Safer work environment? These guys work like a slave in the bad weathers man. If u've been working there u'll know. Just not fun when the management is rushing u. Loading cars on to tri level rails that is as high as a car, isn't fun. Especially during hot summer days.

If AAT's employees are on strike, yes employees @ Fraser Warves might be on strike at the same time too.

How much do these guys make an hour?

I realize that many people have been waiting for a month or more ( I ordered mine end of Aug) But should that make it all Good? I wonder if there have been any strikes In Japan while they've been working on these cars. In fact I wonder if Japan has half as many strikes as we do. You can't say they have better working conditions than we do. We're just used to an easier life.

Sorry but didn't mean to make this thread too OT.....

Waiting for one month or more usually don't have much things to do with dock workers. It's between the dealer & Honda of Canada pretty much. How many cars they can make in the certain time & how many cars can they ship over in one shipment for the WHOLE country's need(remember Honda of Canada have a TON of dealerships to look at).

They would usually ship in more models that can MAKE $ first. I used to see them ship in tons of CRV & RSX. And TONS, I meant TONS of them are shipped to AB, Sask or further east, where the market is bigger(ie.Ontario) & demand of those vehicle is higher & where they can make $.

On the other hand, if our Fit is widely available like a Kia Rio, do u think ppl will like it as much? For a long time Honda fans like me hell yes! But some other ppl? They might choose a Nissan Versa or something.

Be patience, it will be here soon.

I think the strike is over. My car arrived yesterday. Unions still suck.

ok, called Honda's shipping company (transport car fre) and they are saying that the workers are still on strike
This is driving me mental that i'm still waiting. But I did end up getting all weather mats and a trunk tray out of the conversation "4 months is just about long enough to wait before I start getting angry" Honda seemed to sypathize with me. Funny thing is though i cant find any news on the strike. Does anyone have any links to it?

Thanks

JP

Huh?

How the hell did my car get out then? I wonder if a small group took this into their own hands and started moving vehicles I wonder if this " strike " is just something to justify slow movement on these cars. It is odd that there is no news, even in the west coasts local papers. BC thrives on Unions so you would figure they would report that ( union action ). I'd get the dealer to give you a demo to drive. that will motivate them to pressure the shipping yard if there is any pressure they can apply. Good luck!

I know some dealers have been getting newer shipments shipped through Fraser, but there's a lot stuck at Annacis Island. Vancouver has more than 1 port of entry.

They probably offloaded the ships in Tacoma and truck the stuff up. I don't think they offload the Honda @ Fraser Warves. Honda used to go to FW before but not anymore since the guys at AAT got the contract.

Update, strike is over, should have my vehicle within 2 weeks (worst case scenario)

4 months to the day if that happens
