New washer with new PCV valve??

Hi,
Would anyone happen to know if when installing a new PCV valve, I also need a new washer or will the old one do? My new valve did not come with a washer so I'm assuming it's not that important----just use the old washer?? Thanks.

Well, didn't wait for an answer---anxious to get this done. After checking, it is recommended to use a new washer but I didn't have one. I did have a washer for my oil plug that just happened to be an exact "clone"! But, when trying to put the PCV valve on, of course I dropped the whole thing in the engine compartment. I was able to fish out the PCV valve but not the washer so I just sanded off the old one (easy cause it's aluminum) and reused that. Worked great. Car's running like a top!

I'd never heard of a pcv valve until recently. For what symptom did you think to replace it and did it make a difference? Do you have a ge or gk and how many miles?

Also what happened to the gf gg GH gi gj models ....???

Hi fujisawa, I have a 2010 Fit Sport with 115,000 miles but the model doesn't matter. I had no actual symptom or error code for that valve but it's something that shouldn't be ignored. If one is "plugged" or doesn't work, it can eventually screw up your engine. It's emissions related. You can tell whether your valve is "good" or not by shaking it up and down/back and forth. You should hear an audible "rattle" and if not, the valve is no good. Now, that being said, if you have many miles on that valve without changing it, it's a cheap, preventative measure that is also easy to change. According to what I've read, it should be replaced every 30,000 miles or 24 months, in my model and I'm pretty sure that's the standard recommendation. Good luck.
