Question AC Clutch

I took my 2007 Fit (265k miles) to the mechanic to get an issue with my sway bar checked out. After resolving that, they said the A/C Clutch makes noise when turned on, and recommended they replace my entire AC compressor assembly. The AC works totally fine and blows plenty of cold air. It does make a little noise though. I don't know if the previous owner ever replaced the AC or anything.

#1 question: Is some small whirring noise when the AC turns on a big deal? They told me it can seize up and wreck my engine... I'd rather wait until the AC doesn't work before fixing it.

#2: Do I need to replace the entire compressor assembly or could I just replace the clutch? I saw this replacement part: AC Compressor Clutch and this video describing the repair:
and that seems feasible to do on my own.. Replacing the entire assembly seems like something I wouldn't be interested in doing on my own (https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...-clutch-2.html)
