Short story long. Bought an automatic 2008 Sport for $300 bucks at 158k miles from a family member. It has been in the family for 11 years but is a salvaged title. Back in 2013 and was in a salt water flood. It runs and drives but needed a lot of work. I am new to working on cars and figured this would be a perfect project car to start with. Anyways I was finishing up the last things before the stuff that was stressing the me the most. (Valve adjustment) so far I’m about $1000 in on parts but this includes everything from new door speakers and radio to mufflers and floor mats. I’ve been having a ton of learning and teaching myself to do things and I have used this forum countless times during the repair process.
Either way when I was getting off the coil/ I sheered off one of the bolts. I’m not surprised by this because of the history of salt water. However I became more panicked when one of the valve cover bolts sheered off shortly after.
I was hoping to get some advice on what would be the best way to handle these. I have nearly 0 experience with bolt extracting and haven’t been too successful in the past when trying.
I do have an extractor kit but am still worried about using it. I also have a cheap harbor freight flux welder. But am still nervous about the process. I currently have everything taped off to prevent any debris from getting in while the car sits.
I guess I would start by soaking them in thread penetrator. Then grab that extractor kit. I've had luck drilling a pilot hole, getting the extractor + a tap handle, and slowly backing the bolt out. You really want the tool to get a good "bite."

I appreciate the support! I’ll give it go!
do you or anyone else know the part number for the valve bolt? I’m getting some mixed information online
