So I live in a townhouse, and there are no external faucets for a hose to wash my car by hand. About 500 yards down the road however, we have a really nice quarter car wash. Does anyone use a quarter car wash to wash their car, and then drive home to wax it? How about washing the car panel by panel with a few buckets in their driveway? I really dont like not being able to hand wash my car. Anyone run into this?

my hose was frozen once (brr) and i tried the little area with a bucket method.
dont waste your time it doesnt work (all that well)
just do to the quarter place, im sure theres a spot to park and wax there too, so you are driving around b4,

I have running water, but this stuff works so good and it saves water.

 

That quarter wash is a wand wash correct? Definitely use that if it is close. Use the wand for the spray on soap, pre-soak, rinse, etc. If you use the brush, just use it for the suds. I usually set it on top of my car and then use a hand mitt and collect the suds to clean the car.

i have running water but if i was to use a car wash, i wud do wat illusive said, soap up the car then wash it with a mitt, i wud not put that brush anywhere near my car, wud prob create swirls all over it then find a spot to dry it etc...

 

This winter when the weather was nicer I just went down to the quarter wash place either early or later in the day when it was nearly dead. I used the wand to wash/rinse off the dirt and grim. Then I had a bucket with car wash soap in it and filled it up. Took a couple of mits and washed it down with that. The owner doesn't normally allow you to do this but if the place is not busy and there are open bays they don't really mind. Then I would do another rinse down and drive it home to dry off. It work well for me after seeing the swirls left from taking it through the hand wash place just once!

If you have a washing machine you should be able to screw a hose into the supply.

 

There are many, many detailers that use this stuff, you should look into it!

 

always a getto fix! Of If you were really desperate you could use the faucet in the kitchen. I usually just go to the quarter washes.. and I never use the brush, but I will try the mitten idea.

 

octaneguy over at showcar detailing sells these portable pressurer
washers that run off battery and 12v power source. might want to
look into that.

but then again make sure you dont get your neighbors' cars wet
when using these things. that could piss them off enough to write a
letter to the home owner's association to ban car washing.

I'd also recommend going this route - been using the No Rinse wash for over 2 years now, and it kept my black Mustang and now my BBP Fit looking nice and clean with minimal fuss.
