Missing post -- oil test comparison

Where did the recent oil test comparison go?

Is there a reason why posts vanish with no warning or reason?

I suspect those posts were AMSOIL spam thinly veiled as lab comparison or other discussion threads. There were two or three of these by the same AMSOIL saleman showing discussion and analysis of only AMSOIL.

Some of us who posted replies to that thread received a PM from one of the moderators asking if we felt that the OP was SPAM. I did not think so and said that to the mod.

I didn't think it was either. I debated sending my oil sample to the service the OP mentioned but ended up using Blackstone instead.

I thought that the OP illustrated the safety of using extended drain intervals with synthetic engine oils. Sure the analysis from the two labs was done on Amsoil products, but that's what the OP (and I) use. Why would he do lab work on another brand of oil? (This being asked of the member who complained to the mods about SPAM). It also clearly demonstrated that the Amsoil-contracted lab did not mis-report test values to dishonestly fake the quality of the Amsoil products.

But as a Jack Nicholson movie character once said, "Some people just can't handle the truth".

I don't know if anyone else complained, but I did - I'll fess up. Not because of one post but because of multiple threads that, in most of the content, merely highlighted the quality of AMSOIL under the guise of lab comparison or extended oil changes. If you want me to handle the truth, then tell more than just your truth. Do analyses on multiple brands of oil or leave out the brand of oil you sell. Don't start multiple threads with tests results filled with data about the virtues of the product you sell.

This is bordering on NSX_Nick behavior.

Anyone is welcome to post his/her lab test results on any brand of oil, and if/when this happens, I would not complain about imagined SPAM.

To Moderator sam, by removing this thread over one sorehead's whines and complaints, you deprive the whole community of valuable information. For the Mobil 1 fans, the safe condition of the test samples that had been left in the crankcase for a year, and around 9K miles, could be seen as justification to do the same with Mobil 1, Royal Purple, et al.

I commend you, sam, for trying to do your job, but in this case I believe that you are harming the forums. If dealers for any product incorporate advertisements for personal business in posts, by all means hit 'em like a ton of bricks- ban them. While you're at it----------------------
ban the scam/SPAM ads as well!

That's a pretty violent (by forum standard's) response for someone claiming to only have an interest in helping the greater good.

FWIW, I'm down with anyone posting samples and dialog on almost anything as long as they aren't salespersons for the product.

So anything that you don't agree with is SPAM, and should be hidden from all other members? Anyone who posts a positive review of any product is "a salesperson" for that product.

The OP posted test results from two different labs that showed the value of extended drain intervals that are made possible with synthetic lubricants. He happened to use Amsoil. Amsoil dealers are not employees of Amsoil. Most of us pay the small fee for dealership status in order to buy the products at the lowest price. I buy and stock only enough product for my family's needs, and have politely refused orders from at least four members who wanted to buy the products from me. Reason? I want to remain clear of any personal agenda with a profit motive for myself. Most recent was member macbuddy. The fact is that I am a dealer strictly for personal use. I will bet that the same is true for the OP. But even if it isn't, I don't care. The information was good information, and applicable to other brands as well.

"Violent response"?? What the f***k are you talking about? Making a point, clearly and unequivocally, is the opposite of violence. Grow up.

I am the OP of the comparison test.

Rob, I'm sorry you are suspicious of my intentions and that you took the time to complain.

The purpose of my post was purely for education and nothing more. Yes, I'm an AMSOIL dealer. Do I make a living off of it? No. I use their products in all 3 of my vehicles and it saves me money to sign up as a dealer. If a friend or family member wants to buy some, I sell it to them at my discount. I also use their oil test service because it's discounted too. I have posted results in the past on other forums and people are immediately skeptical because they tested their own oil. I can see their point of view and decided to send in a sample to Blackstone for verification.

I in no way encouraged anyone to buy anything. I believe in my thread I even stated I liked the Blackstone service better of the two, so I don't see how I'm somehow covertly pushing AMSOIL. You could have contacted me directly if you had a problem with my thread.

I thank you for the support from the other members.

I rest my case. Anyone else who wants to get lab analysis results on any product is welcome to post those results on the forums. I will read them with interest, because it never hurts to have more information.

BUT IT DOES HURT TO SUPPRESS INFORMATION.

Moderators, please at least try to verify that posts are actually SPAM before removing the information.

Buzzbomb-
Sorry that your informative post ran contrary to Rob's own agenda. Keep up the good work of providing information. That is the purpose of the forums.

Hey Rob22315-
Why is it that you are concerned at all about synthetic oil, and analysis after extended use, when you are too cheap to even change your oil filter at every oil change?

So, are these posts worthy of deletion? I can't read them but I'm guessing they're spam.

The REAL question is, WHY HAVE THEY NOT BEEN DELETED?

To end this thread on a somewhat positive note, I received a PM from the moderator who closed the long term use, lab analysis thread on Amsoil synthetic engine oil, as a result of the FALSE SPAM accusation. This moderator sent the original thread OP the suggestion that he post such information obtained from his Fit, instead of another car. I think that this is one of the few mods who tried to be fair, but in his position, you can't please everyone. At least this moderator did not make disparaging remarks about good products that are sold by Fitfreak vendors, or support outrageous lies about other good products posted by members just seeking attention. He made a judgment call, and though I don't agree with his particular call, I support his effort to be fair.
