Hard to get a good picture without either glare or blurring, but towards the bottom of the cut you can see where the original flares out, and the new one doesn't. :sigh:

I got the name & number for the Manager, I don't know if it's worth the time & effort to bitch about it more & get my $22 key blank reimbursed.
Same thing happened to me...Honda Dealer @#$%ed up my blank cut! They also tried to blame the key blank so its back to the drawing board with another blank and shopping around for a proper key cutter. BASTARDS!

Just my 2 cents... mine is for 2009 FIT sport

I went to the local Honda cut the key for me - FREE.

As stated by the other brothers - need to sand down a bit for the PANIC bottom.

Able to start the car - no problem at all.

Having a hard time taking the key out - stuck in position I (I think is call position I?) - where you can play radio - took me a while to get it. Panic a bit...

Will take it back to Honda - I think is just a little bit off on the key cutting ... more to be followed.

i tried this, i forgot which switchblade key i actually bought but since i have a 2010 GE, the immobilizer chip is on the board which houses the buttons as well.
in the casing for the key, its located too far away from the key slot so the immobilizer always kicks in.
i dont know how to remove it from the board, but there is a slot thats closer that fits the chip.

I think I bought the wrong key???

Based on the posts in this thread I decided to try this experiment.

I ordered a key on ebay ( this one: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...E:L:OC:CA:1123) from a seller by the name of yi_autoparts .

THe problem was I got the key cut at my dealership before taking it appart. I spent $10 getting it cut and about $15 for the fob.

I took the fob apart and I noticed to my dismay that the buttons were different size. This isn't so much the issue, the main problem is that there is no way for battery to stay connected using the new fob. I think this fob key is for a different vehicle than mine, despite the ad claiming it works for the Fit.

Maybe I am doing something wrong?

I emailed the seller and waiting to hear back. Seems like this is not the correct housing? When you guys did this mod did the battery clip on easily or did you have to play around with it?

would someone please take a picture of their key shell with the back off so the original factory battery/chip is exposed?

I think I got the wrong key shell but the seller I am communicating is saying otherwise.

Flip keyfob - thought was cool but Honda screwed it up

I have an 07 Honda civic sedan. Ordered the same key fob from Shenzen, China. Paid $9.99 with free shipping. Was so pumped to have it cut at the Honda dealer here in Joplin MO. Took it, had it cut, went to put it in the ignition: wouldn't go in. It sounded painful even trying. It wouldn't budge. Figured it was a faulty piece of crap, aftermarket issue so I gave up. So another eBay seller with the key and ordered one from them. Just had it cut at the same dealer and again, won't work. I have realized, much like your situation, the Honda dealership's key grinder doesn't cut properly. The original looks quite different from the key fob. I understand with time the keys become chiseled down but this difference is drastic. Not worth chancing damage to my ignition by using oil to lube it up - ill just stick to my factory keys. But keep in mind: this whole "cuttin keys with the VIN is handy if you lost your keys. You don't need a current key to have a new one grinded. But if the keys won't work, where is the convenience????? The thought is smart but not practical. If anyone runs into this same problem tell them to cut a valet key and I'd be willing to bet it won't work either. And it IS factory. They'll be forced to refund you.

Any idea on my problem my flip key starts my car fine I did the whole desoldering the transponder and extending it. But the key won't come out of the ignition I believe it's because of the casing/housing. I have to take apart the flip key in order for the key to come out. Anyone sand just the sides and make it work?
