I have an 08 VBP GD3, and I was wondering how other people wash their tires? I never noticed before, but in the daylight I could see the tire had some streaks of brown, not really sure what that is. Also, I know some people often wash their cars once a week, is there a benefit to this? My car is a bit dirty at the moment but I'm planning to go on a road trip soon so it seems like a waste to wash it now. Thanks in advance!

 

wash it now. It doesn't take more than a half hour to wash, clean the wheels, and windows. I wash mine 2 to 3 times a week.

 

wash it.if you're going on a trip wash/wax it n tape of the front if you don't care for bugs n rock chips.

 

for washing tires i use the same boar's hair wheel brush and use car shampoo. i dont think i want to use nylon brushes or anything harsh on them as it can weaken the rubber..and make them crack.

just whatever painters tape so it doesn't leave a residue...or shouldn't when you peel it. If it's really hot out though don't leave it on for a long time.

 

Definitely wash and wax it now before you put on a mile into your road trip. Your paint will thank you for it

If you're anticipating rain soon, you should wax a little more often - especially the flat areas like the roof. Water tends to stay or rest on flat areas much more than it does on vertical ones like the doors.

i say don't bother washing it before your trip because it's just gonna get dirty, and you don't need to bother taping up the front unless you need your car's front end to be completely immaculate for a show or something. if you do want to protect the front end though, use blue painter's tape (masking tape). the "paper-ish" tape.

and about the brown streaks you see on the tires. is it mostly on the front tires? if it is, that's most likely just brake dust from the brake pads and you can just use some cleaner to get it off. or it could just be some dirt or whatever else that got on the tires lol. to clean it, i just use the same kind of uber-diluted soap i use to wash my car.

 

for longer trips i would at minimum use spray wax on the frontend of the car including the side mirrors. bugs are easier to remove that way.

bug guts can get inside the paint and bubble so make sure you
remove them after your drive. might want to take with you a
bottle of QD and some MF towels.

 

Just wash the tires last. Leave water in the bucket and remove whatever you used to wash the car with so it doen't get tire grime on it. Then use a separate wash sponge, mit, whatever and wash the tires. I like to use a double sided square one that's abrasive on both sides.
