for those who swapped to hella horns, once you wired the horns up, it'll work just like the OEM horns right? no problem/conflict with oem remote?

LOL. i know a guy with the la cucaracha horn, it uses multiple compressors. haha. than you gota wait for it to fill up again.

omg which one should I get? I'd use my horn every single day if I spent $300+ on a horn lol

 

I know, lol, $300 is A LOT, but is would be a blast scaring the crap out of animals and people, especially the ones that cut you off going down the road. I guess the only downside is if you blasted an old lady and she had a heart attack. That would suck.

 

rofl well if she cuts you off and makes you floor the brakes, she kinda shouldn't be driving anyway.....I will get a train horn for sure. Man I'd just drive around all day WAITING for some jerkoff to give me a reason lol

 

Lol, ya'll should watch all the videos on that site. I fall out of my chair everytime I watch the one that starts off with the cat. It's tail is spinning like a helo blade when it jump from the horn.

I bought a different kind of horn, the Ooogah Horn from Harbor Freight!



I simply spliced into the positive of the OE horn and fished it over the other side.





The OE horn only has the positive going to it, so you have to ground the new horn.

It doesn't quite sound like I expected, it sounds like this:

But it is louder than the stock, so I'm happy with it!!

 

I've used a couple of horns so far:
Stebel TM80 Magnums and Bosch Windtones.

The Stebels were great. Not too loud, but they had a full tone. Unfortunately the stock horn mounting points (behind the bumper) are too low. The Magnums got destroyed when I had no choice but to run through a huge, deep puddle of standing floodwater.

The Bosch Windtones I replaced them with are a little harsher sounding but are otherwise a good replacement. The great thing about Bosch horns is that they come with a custom mounting bracket you can mount anywhere in the car. Learning from the low-mounted Stebels, I had them mounted higher up the car. They now dangle from the brace of the A/C refrigerant piping, where the hood support rod clips to when folded.



By the way, Stebel's website has sample sound clips of just about every horn they make.

I got a horn that I installed in my fit a few months ago, but never got around to wiring. The instructions for it say to put a relay in there, wire it to an existing 30A circuit, and also to the stock horn. If I just want to use this as an auxiliary horn so I can still use the stock horn, do I need to go through all that trouble?
Couldn't I just wire the horn to ground and power, and throw a switch on it? Would I need to put a fuse somewhere? Also, what would be the best way to tap into the existing power?

 

Damn! How long has JC Whitney been in business. BTW went there when I was in Chicago a while ago: bad, bad, bad neighborhood. Felt like I needed a gun!
