soft, sticky clutch pedal- what is this issue?
The clutch pedal in my 2007 Fit has been acting up lately. I notice it occurs sometimes during a cool day when the car hasn't warmed up yet. The pedal feels very soft when pressing it. And when I release the clutch, the pedal goes up maybe 1 cm and then sticks for a brief moment before it goes up (and the pedal arm feels loose with very little resistance when it goes up). This seems to occur only when the car is not warmed up. I've taken the car to my mechanic but by the time I arrive at the mechanic, the issue has corrected itself and he cannot diagnose the problem.
Does anyone else have this issue? My car has 150,000 km on it.

First step is to bleed/flush the clutch fluid. This should be done every three years regardless of mileage. The fluid absorbs moisture which can lead to a 'soft' pedal.
Get back to us after you do this. OK?

Read these whole threads. I ended up having my clutch and throwout bearing assembly replaced, still had sticking and decided to replace the damper -> no change. The clutch shop put an auxiliary spring from pedal to dash to help pull the pedal up. This is becoming more and more of a problem in Fits; I have a friend with a later model and has the same problem. Before winter I plan to do the clutch damper removal specified above and put in a new master and slave cylinder. I'm really tired of it.
