Might I recomend Sport Max style 003 forged wheels? They only weigh about 10 lbs each. Sport Max Wheel - The Pursuit of Lightweight Wheel

Because I have a 13 lb 680 in my 2003 Nissan Maxima 3.5.
Installed in July 03 and living right between Chicago and Milwaukee, no cold starting issues. I also have the Odyssey 680 in my BMW R1100-RT motorcycle, installed summer of 98, just replaced it 2 weeks ago.

The Odyssey batterys are military spec and no other battery comes even close IMHO (except the Optima, which is too heavy)

Great thread, some folks dont get the weight issue.
Thanks. I'm glad some people "get it." I have a PC680 in my SE-R and it works great.

I wouldn't suggest going for the lighter flywheel unless you are a serious auto enthusiast. I had a JUN lightened flywheel in my '98 SE-R and there was a drastic change in driveability. Mainly in accelerating from stops and shifting in general.

I'm way too lazy for something like that. I was just curious. I'm not in the market right now and if I was I'd go with a set of Enkei RPF1s.

Deka Battery Etx 14

I finally had a chance to install my new DEKA ETX 14 BATTERY (FIG.1),it cost me $ 62 shipped,it's verry light only 12 LBS,the adaptor cost me $ 24 shipped, altogether $ 86 bucks, not bad for a 10 LBS weight reduction, plus it create extra space on my engine bay,the OEM battery weighs approximately 22 LBS (FIG.2),i did'nt use the OEM cheap plastic battery cover,i just paint my battery with a ceramic thermal barrier paint, heres some pictures,FIG.1

I skipped a couple pages...but wanted to contribute.

Hey guys, I tried to read all but there was just too much. I will remove if redundant but, I've resorted to driving with a 1/2 to 1/4 tank. It's cheap and if I suddenly need to do more errands, 60 mile range is fine in urban environments.

Here are my rough calculations.
A full tank of Gas is roughly 64.8 lbs or 2.4% of total vehicle weight (curb) sans my fat ass.
Driving with 1/4 tank drops range to 72 miles on my current average "Mixed Aggression" driving pattern. That I think is plenty for a weight savings of...48.6 lbs.

I payed nothing, and loose maybe 20-30 minutes more for the same distance at gas stations.
p.s. added bonus, you no longer drive a waterbed after fillups.

OK just some figures on weight savings:

-------------------------------------------------------------

- Stock wheels: 7.7kg/wheel x 4 = 30.8kgs
- Buddy club QF: 4.6kgs/wheel x 4 = 18.6kgs
= Weight saving of 12.2kgs (unsprung weight FTW!).

- Rear magic system seats = 30kgs
- Spare wheel + tyre = 15kgs
- Rear spare wheel floor cover/panel = 4kgs
- Rear sliding parcel tray/luggage cover = 2kgs
- Tool kit = 2kgs
- Rear floor mats = 1kg

TOTAL: 66.2kgs!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Some more heavy stuff removed/replaced:
Axle back stock exhaust (8kg's)
Stock Airbox (2.7kgs)
Stock suspension

On the cards:
Bucket seats to replace front seats
Headers
Titanium cat-back
Lightened pulley

:P hahaha I laugh at myself. Honest.

OK some more weights:

A stock seat is 16kg
Bride Rails 4.6kg each

These are Australian seats, no airbags.

Picked up 16" Konig Heliums yesterday and have to state that I noticed a nice gain. Best $450 ever spent.
