You guys are nuts if you think you feel any difference in anything from a motor oil. Oil is not going to produce any noticeable increase in power, and oil is not going to make your car idle smoother. If it does, then you have a problem in the first place.

Yea, I put in RP this weekend...sun I think. idle is smoother and shifts are too... :/ yea, iono. They just seem to be less umm stuttery or umm iono, but it's smoother.
Was also recommended eneos but I think it was like $11 a quart at local tintmasters...only place you can get it here. Maybe I'll try it next time but I think I'll just rock the purple shiznit.

edit: @rod2rice. go to napa and get their oil. ...if you aren't using synth as of now. then next oil change go royal purple or something else that's nice. There'll be a difference lol, there was in my lesabre. Used napa oil, car had a hard time turning over then switched to umm valvoline synth max life and yea, it was smoother by far. if you think you gained hp, you have problems. I could sorta see a feeling of more torque cause the engine could rev quicker in a sense but yea, prolly nothing someone would notice.

I can probably guarantee that I have the most miles on the site in the US. 76,000 and counting. I put RP in around 15,000. I noticed that when I was on conventional oil I was going through about a quart in a service interval. When I switched over to RP, I put 4 quarts in a the change and 4 quarts came out when changing. I check my oil everytime I get gas, and in conventional oil, I would have to top it off about every 5-7 tanks of gas, with RP, the level stays the same.

This is just my .02

In my opinion, you get what you pay for. I believe when buying RP, you are buying a product to has been tested and tested and tested, and its made in the USA. That should count for something.

Still love my eneos. It's very smooth. And it doesn't burn fast. After 2k miles its still a nice golden color.

i've used royal purple too and i'm gonna have to agree with everybody else who says they haven't noticed anything different when using the oil.

i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that i don't think you should be losing a quart of oil during every change interval, nor should you have to top off the levels so frequently. i've only seen two cars with that symptom: one was an fd rx7 and the other was a turbo lancer. losing oil like that in a more or less stock honda fit is not something i think any of you should be experiencing. no?

and your motor oil doesn't turn black because it's burning.

placebo!

Can you say placebo effect? My "magic oil" is soo expensive it MUST have some magical powers! I expect to get FLAMED, HELL TORCHED for actually saying this!!! I'll let the Honda dealership put in regular old amber colored (Honda) oil for $29 when the maintenance minder (or 5K whichever comes first) says so. I'm soooo negligent!

call it what you want. there has been ample testing that some oils are better than others. as for your "honda" oil. i'm willing to bet that your not getting "honda" oil from your honda dealer. almost all dealerships use a bulk oil of there choice unless you specify otherwise. some dealers are better than others. I know we use mobile at my dealer. but i've worked at a dealer that used some crappy cam2 oil and it would sludge up engines bad!!! so I wouldn't go as far as calling it a placebo effect. but if you choose not to run synthetics or "magic oils" thats your decision.

funny because honda oil is mobil 1 synthetic blend oil.

so technically our paying a bit more for the honda oil.

considering you can pick up a quart of mobil 1 5000 blend for 2 bucks a quart.

i only use honda filters/k&n filters and RP

i really wanna try amsoil as i hear great stuff about it.

yeah i havnt burnt oil in my car yet. 4 quarts goes in...and the same goes out. i noticed everything is smoother thats all.

not so sluggish...smooth, thats where i noticed a difference.

just try it and if you dont like it then stick with the walmart brand oil.
and a fram filter.

figureing you put the good stuff in, it MAY be benificial in the long run, im no expert but im a firm believer of "you get for what you pay for"

yup.

Using Royal Purple, how many miles do you think the Fit can go before an oil change? Website claims up to 12,000 miles, but I'd never wait that long. I'm considering giving this purple stuff a try.

Did some reading. Here's a 5w20 test between Amsoil and Royal Purple. Both seem pretty good. Guess if I end up going synthetic I can't/won't be going back to conventional.

I amusing Royal Purple as well, and definitely did not notice any difference. I'm not saying synthetic oil is not worth using, it definitely is, but in terms of feeling anything different when that or any other oil is in there (other than maybe some incorrect super heavy weight oil), it's all in your mind.

thats really going to come down to your climate, how you drive, temprature, ect.... we used to be a amsoil dealer at one of my previous dealers and they said you could go 15,000 miles but they reccomended replacing the oil filter every 5,000-7,500 miles or converting to one of there fancy shmancy filtration systems. I wouldn't be too afraid with running RP or eneos 10,000 miles(normal driving), but I would reccomend replacing the filter after 5,000 miles and make sure you top off the oil after the filter replacement. just pull the dipstick and smell it to make sure it doesn't smell burned.

I put synthetic in, along with faster acceleration, smoother idle, and better shifts, my stereo now has less distortion, my radar detector doubled it's range, and my stock headlight bulbs are now brighter than HIDs.
