I will soon be switching to Amsoil 0W20. I'll let you know the results.

Thanks man I appreciate your input. I am interested in those articles you mentioned.
My reason for concern is I remember draining this oil and it seemed as thin as water!

All of my previous Hondas (2 of them) had been pre-'94 models and ran 10w30, the same I ran in my nissan. No problems with them.

Recently I replaced the battery in my mothers '05 Accord. Her K24 with 30K on the clock had 3,000 mile-old oil and was 1 quart low! This really started my worries. I told her to have the dealer check it out when she takes it in for service as I don't see the car smoking.

You have a point about recommendations by the engineers and manufacturer but I'm still wondering when has Honda been using such a light weight oil.

I understand that too heavy of an oil can hinder performance but I have also always believed that very thin oil won't hold up its viscosity very well. It is a tough subject and it is hard to get the plain facts without some vendor influenced opinion.

Until I get the Turbo Kit (still on the fence with this one) I will continue using the 5W20 as recommended but I wish to select a better filter since I can no longer get the A01 unit.

It is as thin as water, pours like water at 30º. Frees up some extra mileage, not much, how much more can you get out of a Fit? Synthetics maintain their viscosity and don't break down from temperature extremes.

hi guys i'm new to the fitfreak forum! Just my 2 cents is that I've been using semi-syth for my oil change for my car for the past 3 years (Motul 4100 Turbolight) which is a 10w40 oil and it seems to have a good balance of performance and economy. but i've only recently run into royal purple...and from hearing u guys debate about this oil it seems like theres alot of doubts whether its worth or not? I mean its good to spend on an oil which is better than ur average dealer oil but is it visable that u use it to its potential like on a race track. theres no point of using a oil which is supposed to be used for the track which is high pressure and high temps when ur just going down to the shops getting some groceries... sorry if i offended anyone just wanted to share my thoughts thats all cheers

Has anyone tried synthetic of any kind in a manual transmission?

Royal purple is good oil, but it has the shortest lifespan of all the synthetics. Penzoil Platinum is up there, but Castrol Full Synthetic has the longest lifespan and best wear protection. I have ran all sorts of oil, but if you get them analyzed, you will see earlier wear on the Royal Purple. I run normal oil on my fit 5w30, and she runs super smoothe. I ran synthetic 5-20 mobil1 and it was super noisey compared to dino oil 5w30.

Really now, Pennsoil stands behind their product for 1 year or 25,000 miles like Amsoil. I doubt it.

I don't even get what you are trying to say. Would you mind using more than one sentence to clarify?
