yea, the engine may run smoother with new oil and your engine may last longer if you use synthetic but you wont get any hp gains or anything like that on a stock engine.

I wouldn't be too afraid with running RP or eneos 10,000 miles(normal driving), but I would reccomend replacing the filter after 5,000 miles and make sure you top off the oil after the filter replacement. just pull the dipstick and smell it to make sure it doesn't smell burned.
What's the trick to changing the oil filter while there's still a full tank of oil in the car? I don't have a lift or anything fancy. Just jack stands while I lay on my back. Can I expect to make a mess?

you dont even need to lift the car to get the filter. just get on your back, near the passenger side wheel, under the engine, the filter is right there. if you are having trouble getting it of get a $5 filter wrench. just unscrew it. you will need to top your oil off after tho, as the filter holds about 1/2 - 2/3 a quart of oil.

i use mobil 1 synthetic...i feel no 'effects' from it...i just think its most likely a better oil than most...i might try royal purple or the others you guys have suggested. i also dont wait anywhere near 10k like some of the oils claim you can...i drive my card kinda hard tho, so i just change it when my oil life indicator tells me and keep and eye on it..., haha.

...also that link is great, i am thinking of ordering the flux capacitor from them. lots of savings to do.

i use to use penzoil full synthetic but lately i have been very lazy and do not have enough funds for that oil anymore so i just go to honda and get an oil change done for $21.50....but i felt a lil smoothness in using the synthetic oil compared to regualr oil

also put a little drain pan before unscrewing the filter. I think you'll lose less than 1/2 a quart.

Used to use AMSoil in the neon and 626 Chronos... didn't make 'ems fasters on the ¼mile but they definitely felt smoother and they were easier on gaz too!! AMSoil FTW!!

Now a question!! What if i use 5w30 in my fit as i don't find 5w20 around here??

Marko!!

I haven't changed my oil yet, but I'm planning to use Royal Purple when I do.

It should be noted once you use a full synthetic you shouldn't go back to regular oil.

Nah, just shouldn't change oil types period if you can help it. Every formulation is different, and if you mix them, it could potentially screw up the foaming resistance of both.

There's one benefit to synthetic that no one has touched on yet. Who here lives in a climate where it gets to -20F in the winter? I do. With the civic, on conventional valvoline, I had to drive the Ford when it would drop below -10F because the civic just wouldn't turn over. It turned too darned thick for the starter. I ran it 4 winters that way.

The next 3 winters got Mobil1 and that problem all but disappeared. It never got cold enough by the time I sold it to syrup up the synthetic.

Sure, synthetic really is not noticeable at full throttle, high rpm use but at low speeds like idle-cruse or the much lower starting speed is where the low shear friction of it really can be a benefit.

Probably shouldn't say that car averaged 29 mpg on valvoline and 33 mpg on the mobil1. It ran royal purple for a while, good stuff, but it responded the same to the cheaper mobil 1.

Mobil 1 contains the SuperSyn additive.
Redline claims to not have any additives.
Comparing both in a 5-20 grade, the Redline has a slightly higher viscosity index but a higher flash point. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Does anyone have the specifications on Eneos 5-20?

im running royal purple and my engine noticed i was spending money on it so it decided to give me 10 extra horsepower. ha ha ha.
its really just oil. how much lubricating power can one put in an engine?
what if you filled the oil pan with wd-40? would that be the ultimate lubricant?
sorry to go off topic but i just laugh at everyone getting caught up in what is best and what additives get the most out of your oil.

WD-40? You should try beer why you are at it.. ROFL.
I have always used Mobil 1 full synthetic but was looking into the Redline since it claims to have no additives "detergents".

i thought the additives just keep the oil from breaking down. what other purpose would there be for adding anything to the oil?
i suggested wd-40 because its a lubricant and beer is not.
