Greddy E-Manage Tuning
Boost just doesnt all of a sudden hit 4.5psi or 8psi...it climbs...so everything under the max amount of boost you will run needs to be tuned....and typically a bit over what the max you will run...if i ran 7psi daily i would tune up to around 9psi and put the boost cut that high do deal with little spikes...
fyi skunk was running on a full stand alone ecu....
that seems logical. so i would just tue my fit for say 10psi and even though my max psi is set at 8 and i would daily on 4.5. i think i will have to do this when the summer comes.
You need a tune for your max psi. Under that, the tune doesn't care how much boost you run.
You CANNOT up the boost without a tune, even "just to accelerate." I don't know how many ways to explain this to you. Without extra fuel, and extra timing retard (which the stock tune will NOT provide), your motor will likely blow in a matter of SECONDS.
To run 15 psi you will need bigger injectors, a new MAP sensor (stock can only read ~11 psi), and a TUNE.

I'm gonna order up the Split Second ESC1 for my T1R kit... but I did come across a question when thinking about how simple this device is... why is it that the emanage can't put the ECU into open loop once boost is seen under 70% throttle?
I'm trying to grasp the problem here, and from what E.P. explained to me I think it is cause the stock ECU doesn't go into open loop until above 70% throttle? and this is why we need the ESC1 cause the Emanage can't do this function?
I'm gonna pick up the ESC1, but I just want to get a simplified understanding of whats going on.
I guess the first thing I gotta do is get my UEGO installed... maybe this weekend.. heh..

ESC1 allows fuel trim adjust in boost when in closed loop...it does this by modifying the voltage the ecu see's from the oxygen sensor....the emanage doesnt have the ability to manipulate these voltages...
if you try to richen up the fuel in closed loop with the emanage the ecu will pull the fuel back out untill it reaches limit then will throw cell
basicly
when open loop the ecu runs off fixed fuel map and the emanage can manipulate the voltage going to the injectors to hold them open longer for boost....
when the ecu is closed loop it no longer reads off the fixed fuel map and adjusts off oxygen sensor voltage...by manipulating the oxygen sensor voltage we can trick the ecu to add or remove fuel

I see I see... well as best that I can that is
So when I install the ESC1 will I have to get my car retuned? I am assuming that I probably will... I just had a bad experience last time I tried to get tuned by a reputable shop.

question
how does a wideband o2 sensor communicate with the engine management? for example, uego wideband and emanage ultimate.
ecu wont understand wideband input....wideband o2 runs 0-5volts narrowband o2 sensor runs 0-1volt...but most widebands have aux outputs you can scale to narrowband voltage and scale
if you have a wideband setup can you adjust the esc1 yourself for closed loop tuning.
question to artieman
first of all id have to say thanks for helping with some valuable tuning knowledge.i was proud to see my sc b18c running 9psi and pulling 323hp.guess it was due to my full head and intake works and a lil compression..could have gotten a lil bit more if i didnt have on my stock ex manifold pipes..
but unfortunately my pride was cut by a stupid n unprofessional mistakes from my mechanics..
HOW DOES ANYONE FORGET A EXTRA BOLT LOOSE IN AN ENGINE HEAD ???
at first i thought i melted my pistons ..but on taking down the engine we found an extra bolt that jammed the cams and left one if the intake valves open which completely killed the head and bore a huge straight through the opposing piston.
the block wasnt damage though..but now am going bk to my original b18c head (the damage one was a ported b16a head) and about to get some 11:5 pistons and some rods..
so now that i can run more boost am aming for bout 14-16 still a lil low considering the charger effiency is 25psi..
i was woundering if u had any experience when dealing wid loging and dealing with knock at that boost wid that compression wid kinda crapy gass.
am awear of other mean of cheking the timing eg checking the spark plugs ect..
the fueling is no problem 4 me..got it at 12.5-12.8 wot all the way
am thinking of buying a knock sensor kit that use a sensor n a head phone if needed as after this project am gonna be builing a rb26 aprox 650-700hp so it will be money well spent even though.. if u have any advice for me i would aprepricate it..
thanks

With forced induction, you want a LOWER compression ratio... That 11:1 was designed for no boost, and premium fuel. With boost, you're adding pressure and heat. A lot of it. Without some serious tuning you can't run much boost on that compression, let alone more.
If you're gonna run 15 lbs on 11.6:1 compression, you best take pictures for us!

but it can b done my friend.c16 does wounder for ignition timing
guess i'll just have to do it the old fashion spark plug way..
thanks for your input anyway.
Well before you said on "kinda crappy gas."
C16 is not crappy gas. If you're gonna run leaded race fuel its possible, but definitely not on pump.
Am I a certified tuner? No. But I have provided basemaps and helped numerous people tune their setups on this board, so I'm not totally incompetent. 11.6:1 compression on crappy gas + 15psi of boost = carnage. With c16 and amazing tuning, yeah it's possible. Not for long though.

but keep in mind 14psi is still in a way low boost.
so even a lil compression wouldnt kill
an yes i did say crapy gas ..my bad
thanks again 4 ur input.
