Completely stock is over.

Well, I hacked off the stock muffler and welded up a AC Autotecnic (sp) cf muffler I had laying around. I also with the help of a buddy hacked off the factory resonator (which will not help power in regards to the faq). My review is as follows the car is LOUD inside. The hatch resonates the sound alot... but I like it. The tone is very deep and makes the car sound alot less thrashy and gives it a nice sound while cruising. I'll post sound later.

THat has to be LOUD!!! LOUD!!! LOUD!!!

No resonator and a sports muffler!

I'd go deaf in that!! I used to have that type of setup on my old civic hatch! Never again!

But if you like it, to each his own!

Why would you do that? Does it give you a performance gain or just a bad headache?

Hahah its mostly for noise fellas. My last car had a 3inch turbo back with no cat/resonator. I felt strange driving such a quiet car. Its mostly a temp thing untill a goot midpipe comes out. It is loud but not that loud. No more than my sentra was when I had just a catback on it. It resonates in the hatch alout. I think it is louder inside than outside.

I know of at least 3 mid pipes that are out... *shake head*

Personally I don't like noise

Sounds very good. Very deep, not too much popping or tin ping noises. IE it does not sound like the D/B series motors. I's say the sound is most akin to an older celica if you've heard one of those uncorked. The inside of the car resonates alot. From the outside the volume level is perfect however I will be putting a midpipe with a resonator on once I see one I like. For less the $600 which is just simply rediculous. As far as what I did it wasn't exactly a hack and weld job. We bent and made an axel back using 2.25" piping. The reason for removing the resonator was the sound was non-existant with the resonator on. The stock resonator is a plain old perforated design like a sport muffler but it took away at least 1/3 of the volume.

As far as the midpipe I am going to wait for a usdm rippoff such as megan racing to come out for a decent price. There is no reason to spend 600 dollars for a 6 foot section of piping, the only part of an exhaust that should be pricey is a nice muffler which is visible. The rest is just SS and a mandrel bend. How does the titanium axel back sound?

I'd love to pust it for you but my phone barely picks up the sound. I'm looking for another toy to get a recording of it with. It does not have the tinny raspy sound at all but it does pop off the throttle upon occasion which did surprise me for a car with the cat still on.
