Rear wiper arm replacement for winter

I did some searching but I didn't find anything on this topic. I live in the Northeast and during the winter the OEM rear wiper will occasionally freeze and it can't do it's job properly. I can't find a winter type blade that will work with the OEM arm so I was wondering if anyone has successfully replaced the rear arm that will accept a winter blade or found a winter type blade that will work with the OEM arm? Any useful information is appreciated!
Cheers!

Do yourself a favor and do like this says: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...wiper-mod.html

Life is so much better with the arm vertical.

Thanks for your reply. I thought about that mod, it does look cool, but I think it would only mitigate the problem. Do you drive your Fit in the winter? What has been your experience?

I'm beginning my first winter w/ FIT. I have to say that so far snow hasn't been an issue because it doesn't pile up on the blade and arm. Scraping is a whole lot easier, though haven't seen a real icing event yet. Keep in mind these rear blades are for occasional use and the rear defroster elements do a good job.

As far as fair weather issues, no more dust/dirt build-up on the blade = cleaner rear window.

What a difference with a Stiffy. I always check before getting in car that wiper is not frozen. With it in the ready position I have found it never to be frozen to window. So a little Cialis in your wiper will work wonders.

Now if I can just figure out how to do it to my new Caravan.

I aways check for free movement of the arm prior to using it. What happens is ice builds up in the frame of the wiper and it no longer conforms to the contours of the window leaving more rear window area untouched. Sorry I wasn't clear.

Not sure of your model - go to user cp to set up a sig, helps others help you.

W/ my sport and the JDM mod I'm seeing that the rear diffuser really protects the blade when it's parked vertical. The other thing I've seen is that when there's a ton of winter road spray on the rear window the wiper efficiency is not so good and it takes a 1/2gal of washed fluid spritzing to really clear it well.

Another thing that was pointed out to me when I first joined on was the rear wiper is not really set up well for a left hand drive car. Not sure on that one, but all in all the hatch window set-up is a whole lot better than my daughters Yaris for one and most soccer mom vans I see on the road.

Thanks for the suggestion, sig updated. Sorry, I'm generally a low end user and don't put much into personalizing my profiles. Maybe I should put in a little effort.

Good point in using the spoiler as shelter for the rear wiper. I'll seriously consider doing the JDM rear wiper mod in the spring.

I also noticed the rear wiper isn't great but your right, it's better than most cars.

Hmmm, I wonder where you have to put the pill to make it work?
