JDM Wiper Mod.

Alot of people have been asking me about this.

JDM Wiper Mod.

This is one of my MOST fav. mods on my car, why? because before when i had the wiper horizontal all the dust would collect on the blade and when i would use it to wipe my window in the morning all it did was cause more dirtiness on my window leaving streaks of mud. (yes mud, cause of the morning dew+dust=muddy windows.) So now that it sits vertical, no dust and no mud. and its +2 style points :P

Anyways, lets get on to the DIY shall we?

DISCLAIMER: ONLY ATTEMPT THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, HAVE ALL THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB PROPERLY. ONLY ATTEMPT IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH DIY PROJECTS AND HAVE SOME SORT OF MECHANICAL EXPERIENCE.

**Read everything below before starting on this DIY**

tools needed are:
-Phillips screwdriver
-Flat head screwdriver
-10mm socket wrench.
-Gloves*
-Grease*
(*) optional

1. Remove the rear wiper cap and unbolt the rear wiper. (10mm socket.)

2. Remove the hatch panel.
(i dont have a hatch panel, took it off more than a year ago.)

3. Once you've taken off the rear panel. You'll see the wiper motor. Remove that by taking the 3 hex bolts off. (10mm socket.)

4. You'll see that next to the hex bolts are 4 screw, remove them.

5. Once removing that, you'll see a long rectangular pinion attached to a plastic gearing on one side and a metal pivot on the other.

6. Next, Right under the side attached to the plastic gearing is a small plastic pin, using a flat head screwdriver, break it off.

7. After breaking the plastic pin, remove the pinion and reposition the metal pivot down.
(It slides down)

8. Reposition the pinion in the NEW hole and relocated metal pivot.

9. Reinstall everything backwards.

10. When reinstalling the rear wiper blade, play around with it so you dont wipe your rear garnish.

Have fun and be safe.

I was just admiring this car on carview a few minutes ago. Looks like people indeed are into this over there. I also see quite a few wiper deletes.

Thanks for posting the DIY! I just did this. I've been wanting this for a little while now, but I wasn't sure what was involved. Simple 5 min mod that stands out a little.

I would like to do this as well but a couple of questions.

Remove hatch panel??? Are we talking about the black garnish panel underneath the wiper and not the interior hatch panel right? How is it removed?

Could someone explain the pin that has to be broken off? I do not see it in the pic above.

Thank you everyone.

Hayden what do you have under your Fit Badge? I have a 'Sport" one from WalMart

Super simple mod that makes alot of difference. Did this to my BBP 09 yesterday and think its a great lil mod to help you find you car in the parking lot at the supermarket as well as clear the dirt and pollen off of the rear window.

No - it's the interior panel. As near as I can tell it "pops" off. I'm going out to have at it now. If I figure how not to break anything I'll post back.

I don't think you need to break the pin - 09 right?
