Beat Sonic shark fin antenna Duran Duran

It is coming undone!

The 3M adhesive (or whichever brand/no-brand was attached to the base) is no longer....adhesing (hah!).

It has not flown off yet, but the rear of the antenna can be picked up and shifted.

Has anyone else run in to this problem? I followed the typical installation method - clean, alcohol wipe, remove backing on adhesive, then press with a lot of weight (but not too much...flimsy roof), and hold for as long as I can (before my kids come around and bother me).

I am considering epoxy / super glue, but at the same time I may go back to the R/C-car look.

Don't use epoxy or super glue! If you want to keep using it, go get a roll of 3m automotive grade double sided tape. Clean off the old tape, cut to fit and reapply. Then just keep an eye on it for replacement as necessary. I'd wager it'll be fine though. The automotive grade tape is tenacious stuff. They probably just used crap tape.

Otherwise go back to stock. If you do, I'll take your fin antenna.

Thanks for the advice. I was only half joking about the epoxy; the other part of me was thinking of sheetmetal screws!

I will try to replace the double-sided tape. If that does not work, I will let you know about the fin.

Silicone caulk? Or just vinyl wrap your roof with the antenna under the vinyl.

cant ever keep from falling apart at the seams

cant ever keep from falling apart at the seams ...

mine is not there (yet), but I can def take a finger and poke at the antenna and see it "move" a bit. I'll eventually remove and replace with something with a high weight rating, like:

(rated for 30 lbs, I believe this beats the 3m red stuff)
Gorilla 6055001 Heavy Duty Mounting Tape, Double-Sided, 1" x 60", Black
Amazon Amazon

Yeah, that'll likely work. Whatever you get, make sure it's rated for weather or outdoor use, else it disintegrate rapidly.
