Antenna ripped off (repair?)

My antenna was ripped off yesterday as a parking garage closed when I passed under it.

The action ripped off the base and exposed the small circuit board, possibly damaging that as well.

Before I haul it off to a dealer, is this something I could fix myself with a little bit of time and direction from people here?

Are there any reasons to use this as a means to try out a different antenna? I've searched through the forum and saw bits on shark and spoon antennas. Even some that are mounted elsewhere.

(I didn't have any issues with the standard one, except for it ripping off completely. Even with it off and a possibly damaged circuit board, I still get some reception. Does anyone have a picture of the board, btw? I could compare it with mine to see if something's damaged or missing).

TIA,
-al

Probably cheaper to get a shark fin antenna than to get the dealer to fix it, there are links on here for them they are around $65 I think.

There is a circuit board showing? What all was ripped off, can you take a picture? If it was just the antenna itself it'll be cheap, but if it was the base it wont be, and you'll have to have the headliner dropped down to replace it.

Yeah, to replace it, the underside will have to get pulled back. Here's some pics! Can anyone tell if the housing was the only thing ripped apart or if the board itself looks damaged?

So glad we reverted from those in-glass antennas like my '01 Civic had.

Been there man - I caught my Accords mechanical retracting antenna on there. I just replaced it with a cheapie from Pep Boys. It's just a cable to the radio connected to a VHF mast.

Looks like something was ripped out of that hole in the board. Looks like the whole thing needs replaced.
