Headlight illumination area??
Headlight illumination area??
Hello All: I'm new here and I hope someone can help me. My 2017 Honda Fit has a strange straight line separating the darkness from the "lite up" area running parallel to the ground at the top of the beam. It prevents me from having a larger illumination area than I would like, which forces me to constantly switch back and forth from low to high beams while also constantly changing gears as the car is a manual transmission. I had read in the reviews that the headlights on this car are not great, and it's not much of an issue driving around in suburbia. But!! It is a huge issue when I am driving a semi-regular route to a remote area on a curving, winding, mountainous road. I can't believe it is as simple as a headlight adjustment, but I'll try it if you all say so. I'm wondering if there are lightbulb/bar upgrades I could use. Thank You: Thrifty Lisa (who is not feeling so thrifty - more like scared of getting in an accident)
If you are referring to the headlight cutoff that is normal and like that so other drivers are not blinded. When you need light above the line you turn on the high beams.
They could need adjusting if they are really low.

I have not run into the situation you are describing. Mine is '17 LX with CVT.. But, I replaced the OEM bulbs with Lights Sylvania Silverstar ULTRA 9003/H4. I paid $26.49 for the pair through eBay. More power, more light. It was a cheap way of getting better lighting. It has been 1 year and 3 months, no issue.
I just changed the bulbs to LED bulbs and they are much better low beamsI don't know if I really will need to use the high beams much now. Before the LEDs, I was using PIAA Xtreme white bulbs. They were whiter and brighter than stock, but nothing compared the LEDs. The PIAAs also kept burning out less than a year.
I would suggest exploring LED bulbs to see if they'll throw enough light for you. If those aren't enough, you should look at a projector conversion.

I'm about to take the plunge. Are you happy with the LED? Was it difficult to install? Plug and play without any modification to OEM power connector? TIA!
Thank you. I will start looking into all these offered fixes. BTW: what is the model of your Fit? I see the CVT part and I looked up some of your older posts. I noticed your mileage display screen and I'm wondering if my Fit has that too. I don't have the base model, I guess it's in-between the base and the leather interior model. I have the same material pattern on my upholstery. I also like that armrest addition. I also made myself a trunk hatch cover, using two tension poles and a piece of fabric, but I like your foam core even better! Think I'll change mine up a bit, it sometimes bounces out of place on the rougher roads I have to travel. Sure am glad I found you guys!
Yes so far I'm happy. I've only had them for about a week or so, so cannot talk about longevity. Very easy to install, installs similarly to regular bulbs with the exception that you pull off the mounting plate, then secure that. Then you push in the bulb and twist to the mounting plate. You even can use the same rubber boot. No modifications were made to the connector.

That cargo cover has been solid the last few years of ownership. I crossover at minimum 4 railroad tracks a day and it doesn't budge. I've also taken it on some very curvy mountainous roads and has stayed secure.
Not sure if you saw this while looking through my thread, but here's a video of my light setup with the PIAAs. As you can see, it's not great with the PIAA: Light video
