Had silverstar ultras in 3 cars and they are hit or miss. Had a pair last me over 2 years with regular use and just had one side go out on me after only 4 months. But the light quality is great, and I never worry about burning up a harness. On the reliability side, my mother's car has had a set of PIAA Xtreme White's in it for over 4 years and just recently one side went out. We swapped them out for a set of Sylvanias - but I may try them on the Fit. The hardest thing with aftermarket "white" bulbs is how white they actually are.

So far, only the PIAAs and the SSU's have met my expectations. I cannot stand blue headlights.

I think it has more to do with how much time the lights are on than it does with how the bulbs were handled. Silverstars, and many other aftermarket headlight bulbs, are notorious for short lifespans. They don't hide the fact either. Compare aftermarket bulbs with stock replacements and you'll see predicted lifetimes of the aftermarket bulbs are half or less.

I got a fixit ticket for a burned out aftermarket bulb so I'm a little sensitive about the topic. On the other hand almost every headlight bulb in all 4 of my vehicles is non-stock. I just haven't found one for the Fit yet.

US DISTRIBUTOR - Original OSRAM Silverstar H4 : eBay Motors (item 220375423728 end time Apr-03-10 19:46:55 PDT)

I have and recommend these. They are not the same as Sylvania Silverstars. They are not tinted blue, the glass is clear. They last longer than Sylvania Silverstars (but not as long as OEM). They are not US DOT approved, so if your light bulbs are inspected for DOT approval as part of safety inspections, they will fail.

The 'cool blue' sylvania's are actualy only 4k, street legal, and anything but blue. Not brighter, but whiter if that's your thing.

Resurrecting an old thread. I picked up a set of these today, but haven't installed them yet. The shop I bought them at said they have a 1 yr warranty. If they burn out in less than that I'll just return them.

Will my daytime running lamps still work with aftermarket bulbs?

I had no idea there was a warranty, wish I knew that, mine burned out after 6 months, but to be fair I drove 10k in those 6 months and I primarily drive at night, either way I got my money's worth

And yes, they work as drl. The drl will be more white too.

I have had them in my car over 3 years now and they are still working the same as when new.. I don't drive as much as you younger folks do though.

Used to run Silverstars in my Jag and was happy with them, but I think the Philips are brighter!

If anybody made a relay harness that worked with high-beam DRL and ground-switched cars, a relay harness on OEM bulbs would trump Silverstars for brightness, and be far longer lived. More lumens always trumps optical tricks of blue-tinted bulbs.

Having used Silverstars and Xtreme Powers in H4 fitment on a previous car and H4 Xtreme Powers in the Fit, the Xtreme Powers win the brightness competition. They're both about equal in life, with the Xtreme Powers being $20 cheaper.

Hi,

Here's a link to Candlepower Forums on this topic that might help.

I like my 70/65's. Nice upgrade
