Viper on '09 Fit: Door locks not working
Viper on '09 Fit: Door locks not working
I just had Best Buy install a Viper 350HV on my 2009 Fit. But the installer couldn't get the electronic door locks to work with it. He said he hooked everything up as he does on other Hondas, but the locks aren't responding.
Does anyone have any tips I might pass on to this guy?

sorry this isn't much help but i would tell him to find another career ;]
hopefully you get this resolved. honda installed my viper alarm very quickly and has worked just fine every since, i am not sure of anything special about it...? may be he should learn how to read the wiring diagram istead of hooking it up like "any other honda"
i am an electrician and sometimes i see things that i have done before, but is wired differently due to whatever reason. all i have to do is read the wiring diagram and i install it no problems...i am assuming he should be able to do the same with this alarm if it is his job. if not his supervisor should be able to.
I'm wondering if it's a bad connection or the doorlock output is defective. Maybe he got the wrong wires. who knows. He should be able to make this work seeing how he does this for a living. lock- light blue/ unlock-gray both negative trigger found @ MICU attached to the back of fuse box under driver side dash in light green plug(wires are very small). The 09 fit is different from the previous. It's new to the market and he might not have a tech sheet for it. Tell the installer that the wiring for the 09 fit is very similar to the newer cr-v and civics. I hope this helps. I do this kind of work for a living!

is it a sport or base cause if its a sport u have to cut into the power lock wire for the stock "alarm" and it will work but key lock button wont work anymore. but it will lock and unlock with the alarm pager.
don't really understand what you are saying, but door lock buttons should work no matter what. door locks and factory arm/disarm are independent wires, which have to see a negative pulse. Seeing he used a viper it should have a factory alarm/disarm output independent from the door lock outputs. I just did a new clifford 1.3x 2-way remote starter in my fit sport and it has to be one of the easiest car starters out there. The factory keyless entry still works and the clifford remote does keyless and factory alarm functions as well.
Bump.
Wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram, or color / wire location list for the 2009 Fit.
I'm looking to install a Viper alarm in my 2009 Sport. If anyone can lend a hand with the proper documentation, I could do a write-up.

For the GE8 owners who want to install an alarm or remote starter themselves here you go. I'm pretty sure this is all correct, but you should always test the wires to double check.

Dude, awesome info, definitely appreciate you posting this.

One question (I see you do alarm installs) - I have done a handful of alarm installs, and have never really had to fuss with an OEM security system. The 'security system' on the Fit seems to be little more than keyless entry...
To bypass the OEM system, is it as simple as resetting the door lock features so that the car doesn't lock up after so many seconds, and installing the new alarm over it? The reason I ask is that I see a call-out for factory arm / disarm above, and have never run into that, not really sure what to do with those wires. Or is another module needed to fool with the factory alarm?
Awesome info thus far!
the locks on hondas won't lock up as you would see on a ford. I would first check to see if the car is equipped with a factory alarm. If so, then these are a couple of reasons why you would want to hook up factory alarm disarm. If someone accidently locked the doors with the door switch when the door is open and close it, locking the doors with the key hole cylinder, and/or factory remote on key will arm the factory alarm. If you go to unlock the doors or remote start the car with the aftermarket remote it will trigger the factory alarm. Hooking up factory alarm disarm will prevent the factory alarm from going off and you wouldn't have to worry about it. Seeing that you are installing a viper unit it should have an oem alarm disarm output which should be green/black, which gets hooked up directly to the green wire. I recommend soldering this wire and the door lock wires because they are very small. You will see what I'm talking about when yo do the install. I hope this helps and good luck!
sorry, I just read your post again and misunderstood what you were saying. If the car is set as passive arming then yes it would be a good Idea to set it up as active arming, but not necessary. That is another reason why it would be good to hook up factory alarm disarm. Setting the factory alarm as active arming will only arm the alarm when set physically, not automatically. The reason I say this is you don't want the factory alarm and the viper alarm armed at the same time. It would be too weird. Thats what the viper is for to replace the factory alarm, but with much more to offer!
The worst thing you could do is have best buy put an alarm in your car. I had them do one of mine, and they have "fixed it" five times, and it still doesn't work, and they dont stand behind the product. It never worked right, and theres plenty of record of it, hacked my OEM wiring, and told me, we don't carry that brand because we had a lot of problems with them. The problem is Best Buy installers, they suck, just like the company itself. Nobody ever knows SHIYET at best buy
