Heads Up Display MPH 300Z 350Z 370Z ECLIPSE TURBO: eBay Motors (item 110552063405 end time Jul-26-10 15:25:15 PDT)

I've been wanting one of these for a LONG time. They make them in MPH or KPH versions and direct-wire or OBDII connect versions. My only concern is whether the OBDII version will work with my 2010 Fit, since my PLX Kiwi won't. Anyone familiar with this unit?

Not sure what you're gaining. Trick, yes, but how do you fasten all the gear to the dash. Those Kiwi's sorta look like the same thing.

Get a Scan Gauge if your technically curious. Lot's more info/use in diagnosing problems.

Velcro! Anyhow, it's nice to see stuff without having to look down.

My 60 Dodge Phoenix had a see-through speedo on TOP of the dash which was great.

Hard to believe this was a compact.

I went ahead an bought one of these. H.U.D HUD MPH head up display DASH CLUSTER SPEED: eBay Motors (item 110569652900 end time Aug-15-10 08:29:35 PDT)
It wouldn't work, so I contacted them and followed their instructions for resetting and trying to get it to work. During reset all my warning lights on my dash came on and part of the H.U.D. unit started to melt. Took it off and now my check engine light stays on. I hope it just needs to be reset. Asking seller for a refund.

That's too bad. You were following their verbal, so at least that part is good.

Try a 30min battery disconnect [- first then +] reconnect in reverse order. If all is good the CEL should clear in 3 engine/drive cycles. If not something is up.

Meh. Cool gadget but more of a gimmick. Yeah it saves you from having to look down, but really, you should be looking straight ahead anyway as opposed to looking down. If you notice that you seem to be passing people pretty easily, then you are probably speeding and might want to slow down. If you are a techno geek, then go for it. To me this is like 3D TV, nothing more that a gimmick, yeah it works, but really, does it make your TV or movie watching THAT much better, doubt it. You just believe it is so you can justify in your own mind that you spent extra $$$ for it. Not a gripe, just giving my two cents.

BTW, he sells another version that connects directly to the relevant sensors; less convenient, but likely safer. I can tell you me KIWI MPG won't work with a Fit, and the makers told me Honda had apparently changed the pinout of the OBD II connector (?!).

Could have been worse - glad to see it cleared. So what's next?

After seeing all my 'idiot' lights come on and the unit melt, I think I won't mess with a HUD unit. I do have a ScanGuage that is older. Probably send that in for an upgrade and find a good spot for it.
