amplified subwoofer help for an 08

I'm contemplating buying a fairly small subwoofer for my 08 fit.

Amazon.com: Infinity Basslink 200-Watt, Dual 10" Powered Subwoofer System (Black): Electronics

I've searched for the last hour for guide/tutorial threads on amplified subwoofer installs for the GD3. I've seen mention of install threads for this type of product on the GD3. I've got questions regarding tapping into the speaker wires (I'd like to leave the headunit alone), wire routing including going through the firewall and just general info I haven't even thought of yet. I've seen posters mention guides in the ICE section and I've not found the threads sticky or otherwise. I don't know if I've just chosen poor keywords or what. If someone could point me to those threads I'd appreciate it. This Sub seems like a decent modestly priced option at $150. Thanks in advance.

thanks

Hey thanks for the ideas but i hoped to find the threads where others showed how they routed their wires on GD3s. I chose this particular amplified sub because it's a compromise between bass output and the space it would take up in the back of the fit. Best buy sells this exact unit but said they wanted $200 for the install. I thought that was high but I might have been wrong. If I could find somewhat OEM looking wire routing options I'll attempt the install myself. Part of why i thought this unit might be workable is that it supposedly can use the speaker wires from the doors as inputs for the sub. I'm aware of craigslist, ebay and separate enclosure amp and speaker options. I guess I'm living in fantasyland but hoped a fairly simple straightforward upgrade to the GD3 fit sport's sound system's bass might be available. thanks for your responses. I still hope to find those GD3 install threads I saw FF posters mention.

firewall

Routing the power cable through the firewall in an OEM fashion (tastefully) seems to be an issue. I've done lots of mods but nothing Honda (yes warranty matters) might get worried about. My interior appears VERY OEM and I hope to keep it that way! If the install was $80 I'd pull the trigger instantly!

I cant really comment on how to best install it in a GD3 and I have a GE8 but im very hapy with my basslink. It puts out a good amount of bass and really doesn't take up very much room. I recommend putting some anderson disconnectes on the power and ground wires, it makes taking out the unit very quick.

in the corner

I like your installation and will probably use the disconnects. where'd you get yours? I wondered if any GD3 owners had tried to fit theirs in the rear corner on the passenger side. I measured and it should fit reasonably well while not impeding too much on loading or cargo holding capacity. Amazon's still got the $150 price but I haven't ordered yet. I'm still hoping for a GD3 owners input on getting through the firewall without damaging any OEM wiring or linkage.

Im right there with you feddup. I'm looking at that same setup. I just bought a wiring kit from ebay by phoenix gold that was reccomended by someone who's bought three of them. I have 2 8" subs in a small box right now with a pioneer amp. I figure if I dont like the sound then at least I have my wiring in place and I'll just get the basslink.
