Usings a computer PSU to power a car amplifier and sub (not car related)

I was curious if anyone knows anything about using a PSU to power a car amp and sub, so I can use it in my apartment. I've got it hooked up and it works great, but I don't know if there are any risks to using this. I haven't been able to find any threads online of people reporting potential problems of doing this. I think if I don't have it turned up too loud, I shouldn't have a problem because I wont be over working the PSU or the amp. I don't really care about the PSU, I just don't want to ruin my sub or amp. Thanks for checking this out!

What I did in my shop for a test bench was an RV style of charger. I used a couple of old batteries as a buffer for the power supply. I've got a 55 amp that I've never been able to get it to break a sweat with any amp I've tested. I would think that the PSU from a computer would be weak and fail. For a little money you could do better.

i use one of these things:

it's 12v as well so it's the right voltage. it last about 15-30 minutes, enough time to test everything out and make sure everything is working.

as far as you using a PSU, you should be fine and it won't hurt anything. PSUs are made not to spike so your amp should be fine.

PSU is a computer power supply unit and it should work for small power situations (like powering a H/U). My biggest worry would be the voltage sag which would kill the internal power supply of the amplifier. It just seems silly to save $100 just to kill an amp and have to spend more than that to replace an amp.
