Smile Honda Fit keylock problem

Hello,

Car: Honda Fit 7/2002 (right hand drive), automatic

Something must have happened and I just can't insert the whole car key into the driver's door to open it. Something is blocking my key from going all the way in. Only way to open the door is to use the remote-control.

What could be the problem?
Does the whole mechanism need replacing?

plz help.
cheers
kyp

You need to replace the cylinder door barrel.
I have replaced the drivers barrel on my 2002 Jazz and and it has gone again.

First try squirting a LOT of WD40 into the keyhole, then see if you can insert the key. If you can, work it in and out a few times. If you can't, take it to a locksmith and have him look at it. There may be something stuck in the keyway.

i hear you can squeeze some graphite powder and it.. this will help ease the key into the hole.

Not as well as WD40 or TriFlow. Also, graphite won't repel moisture-and it's messy.
