Need Help - Skunk 2 Pro C Noise

I excitedly installed my Pro C's this weekend on my ’07 GD3, and now I have a new clunking noise coming from the front end and can’t get the car to drive straight.

1st off some of the issues I had during the install not sure if this is normal or not… feedback is appreciated.

When installing my Front Coilovers I noticed that there was no hole for the pin on the brake hose bracket (had to grind pin off), also there was about a ~0.1” play between the knuckle and the slot on the coilover. Basically had to use the pitch bolts to close the gap in order to get the proper torque spec 76 ft/lbs (what instruction said). Also was not really sure where to set the front sway bar end links so I set them up, to allow for basically ~0.25” off the lower arm bar at full extension. Set both side equal lengths.

When installing the Rear shock again there was a gap where the bottom of the shock meets the bolt bucket (where u pass the bolt through) on the torsion beam had to use a washer to fill in the gap (put washer on outside). Also used both bottom and top rubber spring mounts for the spring and perch.

Now this is how I set my ride height (with me in the car). Adjustable shocks are still on softest setting.

Driver Side Passenger Side
Front 23 1/8” 23 1/16” (little Pretension)
Rear 23 3/8” 23 3/16” (Maxed low w/ rubber installed)

Also just came back from the alignment shop and this is how my car was set-up

Front Driver Side Passenger Side
Toe -0.05° -0.05°
Camber -1.6° -1.2° (asked for -1.5° camber … not sure if this is the problem)

Rear Driver Side Passenger Side
Toe 0.15° 0.15°
Camber -1.7° -1.5° (not adjustable unless you use shims)

Sorry for the lack of pictures.

The issue is now car pulls to the right if I straighten the steering and has a noise coming from what seems like the front end.

Any Ideas?!

hey man. let me start by saying the washer trick you used in the rear is EXACTLY what i do. if you dont put a washer there, the shock housing will beat the bracket and make all kinds of noise. ive been running washers sense i installed them.

if i was you on your alignment, I would get more camber in the front. with the skunk2 pro c's and the spc camber bolts, I obtained -3.0 degrees camber in the front and my rear is not shimmed either so its at -1.7 both sides. toe in the rear is also like yours .17 which is good. you want a little toe in in the rear. my front toe is 0. car handles like a damn miata. also incase you are worried about -3.0 degrees eating your tires, I can take pics of mine. NO UNUSUAL WEAR AT ALL. I rotate every 3k miles just to make sure. with the spc bolt + proc's i could even get MORE negative camber if needed. I just stopped at -3.0.

as far as the noise, I ALSO HAVE THIS NOISE! haha I have also replaced skunk2s shitty endlink with some 200 dollar power grid ones. the noise is still there and i did TONS of research how to properly install and set the end links. I think the noise has something to do with pre load. My noise is like a slight clank in the front passenger side. only when im moving slow over bumps and such. at high speeds the noise goes away. I also noticed that if i drive the balls out of my car then do the low speed test again, it is greatly reduced in noise. maybe the shock is cold? causing noise? ive been playing with that noise for about 6 months now haha. but on a good note, i have tracked the shit out of my car with this noise in existence and nothing has every went wrong. I dont think this noise at all is dangerous or something to be worried about besides it being annoying. it might even be the spring or some crap.

Im about to order some custom hyper coil springs for these pro c struts. ill let you know if anything changes.. im going to go with like 16k and 14k rates.

sorry if i wasnt much help but i personally know you always feel much better when you arent the only one with the problem haha.

@J - 16k and 14k... dude you are crazy!! (I'm useing 6k in the front and that is good enough)

Also did u notice if the top part of the front shock is off the seat a bit (open hood, the part you see) when the car is on its wheels. Not sure if this is the problem but i will be investigating this weekend. The engineer in me can't stand this mediocrity .. Gggrrrr

if you go up to 16k/14k, you'll need to revalve the shocks... just a heads up

as for noise, i get that too /w the buddy clubs. It might be the springs binding on something. try greasing up the springs and see if it helps.

Not binding... since the noise happens when the suspension uncompresses.

The noise is more like a clank, and I can feel it in the steering wheel. Its odd, sounds like something is loose and shifts every time i go over a bump, no noise in a constant state of compression or riding on a smooth road.

Just low speed bumping

ive noticed that on a "colder" morning, they tend to make more creeking/squeaking noises then on a warm afternoon. when i leave to go to work (4am), theyre loud and kind of annoying. but when i get off (1pm) theyre completely silent. so im going with the fact that the cold is making it do this.
