It Sucks!!!! That's Why We Common Guys Have Such A Down , Bad Stereotype For Car Salesman. They Are Like Crazy Doing All Kinds Of Things Just To Get Your Money. They Should Only Charge You For The Difference Of The Sales Price Between The Two Rims, Cause If They Charge You The $ 89-whatever They Charge Plus The Tires, ......wha! The 15''s Were Free For Them To Sell Them To Another Customer And Then Charge A Lot For Ne "upgrade"

what's the stock base tire size? 175/65/14 vs. 195/55-15

60 vs 61.3km/h

15" wheel + 55 profile tires = 14" wheel + 65 profile tires = 16" wheel + 45 profile tires

you are half right

it depends on the width

according to your formula:

245/65/14 = 175/55/15 = 135/45/16 (all made up sizes, to illustrate a point)

you are right in that when you +1 on the rim size, you -1 in the profit size, but you also have to take into consideration the amount of width you are changing

it will throw the speedo off on the LX, by about 4%, 4 tenths of an inch is almost 1/2" height difference .. so the car will sit lower too

Yes you are absolutely right.

I didn't include tire width into my example to make it easier to understand that increasing wheel size will not affect your car's rolling diameter and therefore your car's speedometer much. It's negligible.

But to be throrough one must include the tire width in their calculations.

If you buy a vehicle with an aftermarket wheel ( HFP or otherwise) you do not get the stock wheels back. If you buy the car stock, then add the wheels as an accesory you should receive the stock wheels also. Now they do not have to send them back for a "credit". It isn't a car salesman thing you have a choice. If you want both sets buy the wheels after.

I bought my VBP Sport off the floor with the HFP wheels mounted. I paid full price for a Sport which included the 15" wheels and tires. I paid $1700 additional dollars for the 16" wheels and tires and labor for installation. The dealer gave me my 15" wheels/tires that I paid for when I paid MSRP. If no credit is given for the 15" wheel combo they are yours.

Wow. Its all been said. I have been buying accesories out of pocket to save money. The hpp wheels are one of the items I have bought. I ahve not put them on the car yet. I am so suprised the sport rims sale for more then the hpp rims. I need to buy some locks and or upgrad security so the rims dont get taken.

Got my fit today! The HFP's are awesome. I got the wheel locks from honda but i really want to find a set of blue lugnuts and locks that will fit acorn shaped rims. Most of the aftermarket ones say not to use them on OEM equipment.

Anyone found any please let me know.

Question about 16" alloy upgrade

I just ordered my fit a month ago. I really want the 16" alloy rim, but do I also have to take the stock rims? It seems dumb to buy two sets of wheels. The sales guy I talked to said I would have to buy the 16" alloy wheels as an accessory and also find tires to fit them. Why doesn't Honda just deliver it that way?

yes you have to purchase them seperate and also get tires for them. the good thing is that you can sell the stock wheels and recoop some of the cost.

A lot of these problems are cuz of the fact fits are imported, not made in US. There is zero customizability of the fit

I asked my dealer the same thing: why can't i pay the differential between the stock alloys and the factory 16" alloys. The explanation is that the wheels are options, not upgrades. It sucks. You would be stuck with the stock alloys and tires, then shell out the $$$ for the optional 16" HPR rims and then be basically on your own for tires. FWIW you can get much better prices on the Honda 16" alloys by looking around online than you would get from your dealer. That sucks too.

Dealers aren't exactly in the business of saving you money I was lucky that the wheels from my Civic fit perfectly on my Fit, so I didn't order the HFP rims, just ordered new tires for my own rims (the old tires were worn out and had some cracks already).

The alloy upgraded wheels for the fit do not include tires from the dealer? It's a good thing I read this thread!! I did not know that! Hmm, the $800+ for those wheels isn't that good a deal anymore. Hmm. Looks like I"m going aftermarket then.

If I can help with the wheels and tires let me know. We do ship them mounted and balanced and ready to go on the car.

When I purchased my Alloy upgrade, the dealer added Bridgestone RE750's as the recommended tire. Total price with an exchange of my 15" alloys -I think came to about $700. Not great, but I'm happy...
