Angry Speedometer is hard to read.

I have my heart set on buying a new 2012 Fit but need to find a way to be able to read the speedometer. My distance vision if great but close-up vision is marginal. So when the needle moves I find it hard to read how fast I am going. I thought about buying a sheet of magnifier material and trying to place it between me and the speedometer. But that is just too ugly for such a neat car.

Any ideas?

Sure appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Thanks

Mr. Paul

If you search on this website there's a way to get the radio to display your speed although I think it does it in kph instead of mph. A scangauge/ultragauge or similar might also display your speed.

Mr. Paul, if your eyesight is that bad maybe it's time to think about a designated driver instead. Just a thought... Safety and peace of mind for the rest of us on the road.

But if you insist, perhaps putting strips of bright yellow or orange flourescent tape on your 15, 25, 35, 55, (errrr pushing the envelope) 65 and 70mph markers might help so you have reference points. Be safe!

Visiting an Opthalmologist would be a really good thing to do. That is the medical specialty that can give you the solution to your problem. And, if there is NO solution, you should not be driving.

Consider trying Progressive lenses. The first time this happened to me years ago I was shooting an instrument approach at night and the instrument panel became unreadable. Progressive lenses fixed that problem.
