Rogue GE Carbon Cowl Scoop Interest
With all the interest in the GD cowl scoop (see thread: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/gaug...terest-17.html) it finally seems time to explore a similar product for the 09 or GE Fit.
Before a prototype can be started, I would need some input from GE owners.
Fist off, one of the nice features of the GD is the removable cover that goes over the master cylinders. This cover has made for an easy installation of the cowl scoop. To my knowledge the GE does not have a similar opening that could be used, so what will need to be determined is where a scoop could be mounted and how. Will owners be willing to cut a hold in their cowl panel? Is there an alternative to cutting? Are the ends of the cowl panel removable and could a replacement piece incorporating the scoop easily be installed?
Though I would like to see if there is enough interest in this product, before things get too far, I would like to enlist the help of owners in determining how best to proceed.
As always, thanks for your help.
Oh, I also thought I would mention that I hope to have a carbon grill ready to offer in a few weeks, but that will be for another thread.

I think most will feel the same way, so I'm hoping for a better option, like maybe incorporated into the end pieces.

I don't mind cutting as long as there is some sort of gasket, and trim incorporated into the piece. at least a trim that's molded to the piece to cover up the edges once you cut and file the edges smooth.
Someone from Thailand/Australia (I don't remember which) just posted an image of their fit on this forum to show it off. His GE has a cowl. It was a right hand drive vehicle so the scoop was on the left hand side (if you were facing the car from the front). I will search and try to find the thread, but if anyone remembers it maybe that person could help.
I'm interested in helping make this product happen. I will provide any input/images/etc. needed to get this project going. I'm not too familiar with how it work on the GD. Does it attach to something under the hood or is it just open to draw air into the engine chamber?

I haven't done anything with it yet since there just didn't seem to be interest at the time, but I'd still like to. I'll start thinking about it again.

I think there will be enough interest now, I've just been buried all summer, the cowl scoop has recently extended to a couple other makes.
I'll start on this as soon as I finish a couple projects I'm currently working on. But is will be soon.
I just looked at a parts list and it looks like the cowl is only sold as a full assembly. I'm thinking of using only the part just above the master cylinder, does anyone know where I can get just that part?

Does anyone know where I can get the end piece of the cowl that is just above the master cylinder? As soon as I can find one of those, without purchasing the whole cowl, I'll be able to get things going.

Just found this thread from your GD scoop thread. When I had my 5R Integra and the GruppeM intake it came with a new cowl piece that the intake mated up to and the scoop clipped into the cowl. As the scoop needed to be removed for the hood to be able to open.
If you were able to make a whole new cowl piece with the scoop either as one or fastened into the cowl that would be nice. Even better if you could make it with the scoop and beneath the cowl extending down to where the intake sits in either stock form or with a short ram such as the PRM.
Excellent looking products from what I can see in all the photos.
