We are still short of the requisite 15....what if:

The current 9 or 10 committed buyers pays 130% of the actual cost to cover the 5 that we are still short? Example: JDP makes each hood and they cost $450...we pay 130% of this cost (or $585) to get things going and bypass the need for 15...

Or we could continue to be patient and wait for 15...
This is an option i'll consider....but it's up to everyone else.

JDP,
I'd love to have you produce this hood. I think in the long run it would be a very good seller for you.

We just need to see who all is on board and at what price...I got money in hand!!!!

Why's this thread so SILENT??? JDP just said he would make this hood for $585 (if I understood his last post correctly)...

...Is everyone still down?!?!? This is still cheaper than most aftermarket carbon fiber hoods.

Anybody know JDP's phone #? I'll give him a call today..

***EDIT***
Just spoke with John (JDP) and he is interested in producing this hood. He agrees to $585 given that we only have 10 people currently. If we get more people willing to put up a deposit, then I imagine this price will be able to be re-negotiated.

His estimate is a mock-up within 1 week of our final agreement...then things will move quickly from there...i.e. 1-2 hoods produced each week. We could be looking at hoods as early as September.

So how would this work? Pay $585 up front and that's the cost? Or pay $585, if it costs less we'll be refunded?

Baylorbro,
My understanding is that we will pay a reasonable down payment and that the total cost will be 130% of $425 --> $550 to $585. We didn't get too firm on the price.

As far as re-negotiating a price...this wasn't discussed, but it would seem reasonable that if by next week 5 more people jumped on board the price would reduce to $425 (which is what he was planning on selling these for if we had 15 interested).

I imagine the functionality of this hood will complement the Rogue scoop as well. This hood will draw out hot air from the area of the header, and the Rogue scoop will draw in cool air towards the airbox.

@Evil,
I forgot, I spoke with John and he said it would be possible to retain the factory air-duct underneath the hood...all that would be required would be to drill a few holes and swap the plastic ducting over.

LOL.

Maybe someone else can try making a gauge interest thread on hondafitforums.com....just make sure you clarify that you are not a vendor, just a regular fit owner trying to get a harass hood made for the fit community. Maybe this could get a couple more willing to commit?

I don't mind paying ~$500 for this hood. I've had my eye on a CF hood made by VIS if this GB didn't work out. It's something like $520 shipped. This obviously is more appealing to me.
