Rogue GE8 Cowl Scoop Interest / Developement (New Product)
I'm thinking of getting some crepe paper cut into strips to see if heat from my louvers on the hood are feeding warm air into the cowl scoop for my inter cooler.... I can't wait to see what kind of power I have at temperatures below 65 degrees.... I pulled an extra 10 miles per hour over what I normally do on a steep hill accelerating from 40MPH with a 225 lb passenger on board at 80 degree ambient temperature yesterday evening.... I am thinking more and more about hooking up a water/methanol injector system to lower intake temps and increase octane.
i really don't think the gap is suppose to be there. correct me if im wrong rogue. I think he's trying to get the overall design first off before taking care of the fitment issues. im sure he'd easily make adjustments to close the gap if he had a ge8 nearby to work on. right now he's going off of crappy cellphone pics.

Sorry I've been away for a few days, trying to get caught up on some projects, HIN is in Phoenix in a few weeks.
Thanks again to beangrower for the pics, sure looks nice there, record heat here this week.
I figured this design would be met with mix opinions, as it is a little more 'out there' but personally I like it. The gap under the part will be gone or at least very slight, and there would be a few changes to the overall shape to make is flow a little better. The idea was to end the scoop in line with the raised area of the hood, that's why if you look at it head on there is an undercut (it curves under).
As to function, I think there are some advantages to having it face forward, however just to clarify a point, the area at the bottom of the wind shield is actually a high pressure bubble, though low velocity. The top of the car is low pressure and high velocity air flow. You can see this if you tape some yarn up the hood and windshield. The yarn at the cowl will not be pointing straight back because of the high pressure bubble. This means that at speed air would be force into the scoop even if it wasn't facing forward, however, things change a bit as you move toward the side of the windshield so having it closer to center like this should work good.
At this point I would still like to get members input but I'm going to communicate more with beangrower and there are a couple members in the Phoenix area that can help get a final product.

***UPDATE***
I had an email conversation with Jim this evening, and it turns out he has the best kind of "problem": he's been incredibly busy with work! Here is his reply to my first email, which he would like me to share with you all:
"Hi Brian, thanks for writing. I haven't forgotten the GE scoop project, but I've been so busy for the last three months that I've only been able to very little for the Fit owners. The good news is that I'm trying to hire someone full time to help me get caught up, so maybe I can get back on that project soon.
Sorry I don't have any more news, but I do hope to get back to this."
He also added this is a later email: "Right now I'm working on a couple big projects, the biggest being E92 BMW M3 parts and I'm suppose to have the molds finished next week. Though I'll still be very busy making parts I should start having a little more time to get back to the Fit stuff."
So I guess we just need to hang in there!
