Rogue GE8 Cowl Scoop Interest / Developement (New Product)

First I would like to thank everyone who has shown interest in a cowl scoop for the GE8 and 'Beangrower' for sending me the stock cowl piece for use in developing the new product.

I had some time this past week to work on this project and would like to share some pics of what I've got so far. Right now this is just an idea and since it's going on your cars, the look of the final product is really up to you.

This first prototype is still a bit rough and before I go any further I could use some input to see what you guys like and dislike.
Since I don't have a car to work on the pictures don't really show the proper perspective, but you can see the general direction I was taking. For one thing since the piece sits at angle, I extended the leading edge of the scoop about 1.5 inches over the center cowl piece. This section would have a small gap between the scoop and the plastic cowl. This is about the only way to increase the size of the opening but this doesn't have to be included if you think it takes away from anything.
Another question would be if you like the overall size of the scoop. It can easily be smaller but there would be some limits to increasing the size and I think I made this on about as large as I would recommend.
Finally there's the overall shape. This is something that can be difficult to please everyone. The part can be more rounded or smooth, or it could be more squared off or sharp.

So lets get some opinions and based on that I'll take it to the next step and try to get an actual part to sample on the car within the next couple weeks.

I am so stoked and still want one of these.

It's looking good and I'm really liking the design.

Your work always impresses me... I'm beginning to see why so many people like the look of carbon fiber.

You really do some awesome work!

However, it's really impossible to get the perspective without seeing it on a car. Maybe you could go to your local Honda dealership and take a "test drive," then do a quick photoshoot with the scoop, finally taking the car back without anyone ever knowing what transpired...just a thought.

Good idea, however for now I just want to nail down some basics and then some pics on a car will be needed.

i'm still interested in one of these also, but i'm also having a really hard time picturing this on the car. i mean, the idea is to get fresh air down to the intake area, right? i just took my cowl apart last week to do my suspension and i just don't see how you're gonna push air down that way. i've seen some of your other stuff and it looks awesome, so i'm excited to see how this turns out!!

That's a good point but something I don't know anything about since I don't have immediate access to a car. I'm really leaving the mechanical part of this project to the owners that are asking for it. If something different needs to be done now would be a good time to address it. So far I've done similar scoops on three other cars, but each of them is open below the removable panel.

Rogue, I can send you some pics of how everything sits user there if it'll help. Let me know. If I see everything right, you're looking to replace the far right cowl piece with your piece, but there's an access panel for the wiper motor/top of strut on that piece. Wish I was in AZ, I'd let you use my car to fit.

Right on Rogue!! Looks good just like that.
here's some pics of the space once you take off that cowl cap. looks like it exposes the brake resevoir and looks to me that air will get there. correct me if i'm wrong. however, Im sure if you trim the cowl more, you'll get more air.

If I'm picturing it right, I vote yes on your current design.

Looks real good. The extra length on the left (in the photos) was an excellent idea. 4X4 carbon please!

so i got the cowl scoop proto yesterday...

keep in mind its just a prototype so there'll be some tweaking on the fitment (gaps n such) and there will also be a mesh in the front of the opening (according to Rogue).

It looks great, I'm not worried about quality from Rogue. My only concern is the location of my prm intake. It sits right behind the brake resevoir. :/ It does have a leg up on most other filters in that it is enclosed, but I would still be worried about water being sucked in. I wonder if one of the K&N covers would solve the problem. I really would love to have this piece.
