Hey Stem, thanks for taking the lead on this one and keeping us posted regarding the lights. I would like very much to be part of the group buy, but without proper pics it's gonna be hard for me to pull the trigger.

One other thing I noticed about the Taiwanese repo JDM style lights is that it appears to be lacking a light on the side of the lower tail lamp housing. You would think that all tail lamps would have them since it identifies the rear when viewed from the side.

JDM they don't have side marker light,also the turn signal light will b inside the backup light (amber color).

Back after being sick several days and then enjoying nice weekend weather. I just emailed Anthony about how to handle the group buy, as well as sent him the pic above and asked to confirm one last time the lights will appear the same. Standing by for an answer.

Anthony confirmed the repro lights he's selling have the strip lighting and should look like the last photo above (of the Thai Jazz).

So let's get this thing rolling…

If you want to buy a set, send an email to Anthony (auto.workshop@hotmail.com) with the following subject line: "Stembridge GK Taillight Group Buy" and let him know which lights you want and how many. As noted above, he has the main body lights as well as the upper lights in both the standard and Hybrid styles. Also provide your shipping address, including phone number (required by practically any international shipper).

Price for a full set (4 lights) including shipping direct to you in the US is $376 US. Anthony needs at least three of us to order to give us that price. Normal price is $406 US including shipping. If you order a different mix of lights (such as uppers only), pricing will of course change to reflect that.

Anthony will send an email with a PayPal invoice directly to you, and we probably need to have an "end date" for taking orders after which he ships. I'm thinking a week or so?

If you order, please post a note here so I can keep track of how many orders were placed. If we don't get at least three, we don't get the discount.

Ok this is getting confusing now. We see pictures of the Thai tail lights above. Correct?

I am exchanging emails with Anthony re: invoice and confirming the tail lights the group buy is for, and at first I am sent pictures of the tail lights (both upper and lower) with what seems to be LED tail lights. I mean they got the wire harness.

Then I get an email from Anthony with a picture attachment of what I will be getting via the mail of what appears to be standard non-LED upper tail lights.

I told him no, that our group buy is of the LED upper and lower tails. He responds with

"From my understanding, only the lower part is the LED, the upper part for both Hybrid and non-hybrid version has no LED. The only difference is Hybrid upper portion is red/silver while non-hybrid version is full red."


Ok. So what's the true story here guys?

 

Just got in and saw several emails from Anthony. He's now saying what you said, noripwr – the uppers are not the strip LED lights, as he previously indicated. To his credit, he immediately canceled my PayPal invoice and asked whether we want to proceed. As for me, I want the LED strip lights, and if he can't get them right now, I'll wait or keep poking around until I find another source.

Any of you who emailed Anthony who do *not* want the non-LED lights, just let him know to cancel the invoice (if he hasn't already). Shouldn't be a problem.

I'll ask him to notify me if and when he can get the correct light.

Sorry for the confusion – after multiple rounds (with photos), you'd think we had it nailed down…

Okay, another correction from Anthony. Here's what he can currently get - it does appear to be the LED/strip light, only in the Hybrid style with the clear sections:



Here's what he wrote: "the lower portion brake and signal are LEDs, all others are light strips. The upper portion silver will not light up."

I prefer the standard LED strip light style, so I'll wait. If you prefer the hybrid style, this does appear to be the LED style lights. You'd still need at least three orders to get the reduced rate, though.

Just wondering why Anthony is selling the red non-lit upper tail lights? Don't we all have those as oem?

Yea I think you're the only one bbigmouth.

I mean, I like it, but I'd rather the red upper and red lower with LED. I got rid of the chrome trim on my hatch and it'd be silly for me to get chrome accents back because of .... tail lights. I might as well put that chrome trim back on the tail gate! LOL
